Jones Homes helps Golcar Cricket Club celebrate 150th Anniversary

A village cricket club marking its 150^th anniversary has received support from Jones Homes by purchasing advertising space on the perimeter of the club’s field ahead of the landmark season.

Jones Homes has just completed a development of 19 new homes on land off Swallow Lane, opposite the cricket club.

Jones Homes named the development Century View, after the cricketing term used to describe the achievement of a batsman scoring a hundred runs in a single innings.

Now, the developer hopes its support will help the club to celebrate its very own special milestone in style.

Founded in 1871, Golcar Cricket Club has three senior teams and five junior sides featuring around 100 children who play in competitive matches across the county.

David Ruscoe, Chairman of Golcar Cricket Club, said: “As for most outdoor sports clubs, it’s been a particularly difficult year for us, and we have relied even more heavily on the support of the community and local businesses.

“We are currently fundraising to enable us to refurbish our clubhouse, extend our CCTV coverage and provide additional outdoor seating, and the money that Jones Homes has provided will go some way in helping us reach our fundraising goal.”

All the homes at Century View have now been sold, but Jones Homes is currently building a selection of five-bedroom homes at Heather View in Hade Edge.
