Avais Sharif, 23, from Huddersfield, has been tasked with identifying new sites in desirable locations across the region to help the house builder expand its land portfolio in line with its five-year business plan. Avais, a 2024 graduate of HeriotWatt University in Edinburgh with an RTPI and RICS-accredited degree in Urban Planning and Property Development, joins the family owned company after actively targeting a role in the housebuilding industry. He said: “This is my first graduate role, and it utilises and builds upon the skills and knowledge I gained during my degree. New head of technical appointed at Jones Homes Yorkshire

A new Head of Technical has been appointed at Jones Homes Yorkshire as the housebuilder accelerates its transition to low-carbon technologies. Tom Dixon joins the company’s Yorkshire division with more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, including the last six years as engineering manager with Miller Homes. Among his key responsibilities will be overseeing the roll-out of air source heat pumps across all future Jones Homes Yorkshire developments. This is in preparation for the introduction of the Future Homes Standard, the requirements of which have recently been outlined by the Government. Tom will also take responsibility for finding effective solutions to engineering challenges such as highways, drainage, infrastructure and external works. Tom, 39, who lives near Leeds, said: “At Jones Homes, we are ahead of the curve as the industry focuses on the changes needed to meet the requirements of the Future Homes Standard, which is designed to reduce carbon emissions in the drive towards net zero. “Jones Homes has made the decision to move away from gas boilers completely to the more environmentally friendly alternative of air source heat pumps. “As a region, we have recently completed our first development which utilises air source heat pumps at Golcar, Huddersfield, and are looking to secure planning permission on more than 450 new homes across seven sites in 2026. All homes at these developments would be heated with air source heat pumps, along with underfloor heating in larger detached homes.” Tom, who entered the industry as a trainee engineer in 2005, will lead a team of four based at Jones Homes Yorkshire’s head office in Cleckheaton. He said: “This new role is a step-up from my previous position as engineering manager. As Head of Technical, I will have a major part to play in the engineering, planning and architecture of all developments. Jones Homes sponsors The Mount School's first Easter Bingo Family Event

The Mount School in Edgerton hosted its first Easter bingo family event, featuring a host of prizes sponsored by local businesses, including Jones Homes. The housebuilder donated an Easter hamper and a luxury chocolate egg for the event, which attracted around 60 people to the school hall. Pupils and their families played three rounds of bingo, which were called by teaching assistant Vanessa Pound, and enjoyed a variety of Easter-themed light refreshments. Natalie Sandford, Deputy Head at The Mount School, said: “This was our first Easter bingo family event, and we are hoping to make it an annual fixture. Hosting events for the wider school community is important to us as it gives our families the opportunity to get involved in all that The Mount School has to offer. “The event went exceptionally well, and we were really pleased with the turnout. Jones Homes Yorkshire is celebrating a major milestone as three members of its leadership team mark more than 60 years of combined service with the family-owned housebuilder. Sales and Marketing Director Jayne Swift, Divisional Commercial Director Chris Hession, and Divisional Land Director Howard Gray have each passed the 20-year mark with the business, reflecting the company’s proud record of supporting long-term career development. The three directors’ long-standing service is a testament to the positive workplace culture at Jones Homes, where the caring family environment is matched by a passion for building high-quality homes in desirable locations across the region. Chris Hession joined Jones Homes in 2002 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor and progressed through a series of commercial roles before becoming Divisional Commercial Director in 2024. Jones Homes sponsors junior football team in Thorpe Willoughby

Jones Homes has sponsored Thorpe United’s Under-8 Blue team to fund the purchase of new kit. The housebuilder, which is building new homes at Teasel Green, off Weeland Road in nearby Eggborough, has sponsored 10 full kits for the squad of eight boys. The team is based at the sports centre on Field Lane in Thorpe Willoughby and plays on Saturday mornings in the Selby and District Junior Football League. Coach Tom Lonsdale, who runs the team with co-coach Oli O’Neill, said: “We were looking for a sponsor so I approached Jones Homes as I knew they are building houses in nearby Eggborough and was delighted by the response I received. They were incredibly positive and enthusiastic right from the off and it was a real boost to find a local business which was willing to get involved. “The very generous donation from Jones Homes has enabled us to buy 10 kits, so we can have two spares – one for the goalkeeper if he wants to play as an outfield player and one for if we sign on another player. The kits, which include a shirt, shorts and socks, are one size too big for the players so that they will have room to grow into them and they will last two seasons. “The players are very excited about having a brand-new kit. The old one was bit tight for most of the boys and more than little tired and washed-out looking. There is no doubt that having a new kit will give them a psychological lift and make them feel better.” Thorpe United has about 500 players on its books and runs 28 teams, ranging from under-5 to veterans. The first team plays in Division One of the York Football League. Long-serving employees enjoy career progression in their two decades with Jones Homes

Two long-serving employees within the sales and marketing team at Jones Homes Yorkshire are toasting a combined 40 years of service with the company. Sales Administration Manager Emma Clayton and Marketing and Office Manager Amanda Gerrard both moved from different industries to join the Cleckheaton-based housebuilder. Two decades on, the pair both cite the caring environment and support they have received from colleagues as the reasons they have stayed with the family-owned company for so long. Amanda Gerrard joined Jones Homes Yorkshire as PA to the Regional Director in 2007, having previously worked in the travel industry for more than 20 years. Within two years she was promoted to Office and Marketing Manager to oversee operations in both areas. Amanda said: “I lived close to some Jones Homes developments at the time so I was aware of the company’s excellent reputation for customer service and build quality. When I arrived, I knew instantly that I had made the right move. Everyone made me feel so welcome and the senior management encourage and support staff to try to fulfil their potential. Their support gave me the confidence to take on more responsibility. “I can honestly say that I love my job and a large part of that is due to my fantastic colleagues and the caring environment in which I work.” Emma Clayton had worked as a legal case handler before joining Jones Homes as a receptionist in 2005. She said: “I quickly knew I had found a progressive company where I could build my career. I was actively encouraged and supported, first moving into the sales and marketing department as an assistant and then being promoted to my current role in 2020. “I am extremely happy in my role and feel fortunate to work with incredible colleagues in a positive environment. Jones Homes nears completion of new neighbourhood in Golcar

Century View in the Yorkshire village of Golcar is nearing completion, with homebuilder Jones Homes set to finish work on the final homes in the second phase of the development. This phase, on a 1.8-acre site off Swallow Lane, has brought 21 sustainable homes to the village, as well as more than £80,000 of investment in local services and infrastructure. The first phase previously saw 19 homes built on an adjoining parcel of land. A new community has taken shape at Wentworth View in the South Yorkshire village of Thorpe Hesley. Jones Homes has finished building 144 new homes at the development, off Upper Wortley Road, following a five-year build programme. The first residents moved into their new homes in 2021, putting down roots to establish what is now a close-knit neighbourhood. Couple buy new home in the country and swap sound of police sirens for birdsong

Matt Hawkins and Keeley Shakespeare have swapped the sounds of urban living for the peaceful twitter of birdsong. The couple have moved from a two-bedroom home in the town of Pontefract and bought a four-bedroom house at Jones Homes’ Teasel Green in the village of Eggborough. Matt, a 33-year-old accountant, and Keeley, a 30-year-old trainee midwife, wanted to upsize but also to move away from a town environment and into a rural setting. “Keeley moved into my place in 2023 and we very quickly realised that it was not big enough for the two of us, especially as I had to work from home part of the week,” said Matt. “My two-bedroom house was perfect as a sort of bachelor pad for me on my own but was no good for both of us together. “In early 2025, we started to look at trying to find a new home and my mum told me that Jones Homes were building new homes in Eggborough. I did my research and could see that Jones Homes were renowned for the quality of their properties which looked so much better than your standard new-build house. “We went along to Teasel Green and met the sales advisor Janette. She gave us a tour of the Bentley show home and we both fell for it instantly. To be honest, we were blown away by how fabulous it looked especially the huge kitchen/dining/living area. As we went from room to room in the house, we kept turning to each other and smiling. “We both knew straightaway that this was the house we wanted to live in. As we walked around the development we were struck by how quiet and peaceful it was. It was exactly the kind of village vibe we were looking for.” Matt put his two-bedroom house on the market and they reserved a Bentley house at Teasel Green. “Janette gave us the good news that Jones Homes would give us an incentive which meant I could drop the price of my house to get it sold quickly,” said Matt. “We used the rest of the contribution to upgrade the kitchen worktop to quartz and to upgrade the flooring and carpets throughout the house. “The entire house-buying journey was super smooth and Janette was brilliant. We can’t recommend Jones Homes too highly – they were great. The whole site team was exceptional.” “Initially we thought it would take much longer for us to get to Leeds where my office is and where Keeley works too but we were wrong. You can get onto the M62 very easily and living here has only put about 10 minutes on our commute. “So, we now have the best of both worlds. We are living out here in the lovely countryside but can easily and quickly get into Leeds, with the towns of Pontefract and Selby very close by. It’s an ideal location. “Our favourite space in the house, and the one where we spend most of our time, is the kitchen/dining/living space which spans the entire back of the house. It has bi-fold doors to the garden and three Velux windows in the roof so it is bathed in lots of natural light. “We love to host and entertain and we had absolutely no room at the old house but here we have the perfect space. We have had family and friends over and it’s lovely to be able to cook and chat and for everyone to be in the one area. There’s a TV and sofa which is a perfect place for the children to be while the adults get on with preparing the food.” The couple are enjoying having more room and have turned one of the spare bedrooms into a home office for Matt. “At the old house, I had to set up in the back bedroom which had a bed in it, and it never felt like a professional working space,” said Matt. “But here I have a dedicated office and it works really well. It’s a much calmer atmosphere to work in and when the day is done, I can shut the door and that is that. “Our main bedroom is huge and has a fabulous en suite which feels so luxurious. We have future-proofed our life because we hope to start a family and bring up children here and already have the space to do that. “Life is wonderful now. We love our new house and are very proud to call it our home. It is incredibly well finished and has massive kerb appeal too.
