Jones Homes nears completion of new neighbourhood in Golcar
Century View in the Yorkshire village of Golcar is nearing completion, with homebuilder Jones Homes set to finish work on the final homes in the second phase of the development. This phase, on a 1.8-acre site off Swallow Lane, has brought 21 sustainable homes to the village, as well as more than £80,000 of investment in local services and infrastructure. The first phase previously saw 19 homes built on an adjoining parcel of land. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “Homebuyers at Century View have welcomed the opportunity to buy a house on a small development in Golcar. “This is a popular village with a strong sense of community and is only four miles from Huddersfield town centre. “The homes are all highly energy efficient with many of them incorporating innovative low-carbon, energy-saving technology, and this level of sustainability has interested customers enormously. “And this development is benefitting the area by providing much-needed high-quality homes in the village as well as supporting local services with significant investment.” As part of the planning agreement for this phase of the development, Jones Homes will be contributing £37,233 towards education, £36,645 for off-site public open space and £7,245 for ecology. Many of the homes in phase two – which features a mix of three-bedroom semi-detached houses and four and five-bedroom detached properties – are fitted with low-carbon air source heat pumps and under-floor heating. Jayne said: “The quality of the homes at Century View demonstrates the high standard of workmanship which Jones Homes has built its reputation on. “There are currently five homes available to reserve and, with the build programme nearing completion, the four-bedroom Buckley showhome will also soon be on the market.” Three, four and five-bedroom houses are for sale, with prices starting from £347,995. Jones Homes duo win coveted industry award in the North West
Two construction managers at Jones Homes sites in the North West have both won a prestigious industry award for the exceptional quality of their work. Barrie Hassell and Mick Simpson have both been named as winners in the Construction Specialist of the Year category in the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards 2025 for the North West region. Barrie is Senior Site Manager at Bowland Rise in the picturesque Lancashire village of Dolphinholme, near Lancaster, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, where Jones Homes is building 27 properties off Abbeystead Road. The local authority for the project is Lancaster City Council. Mick is Senior Site Manager at Alderley Gardens in Nether Alderley, where the housebuilder is delivering 50 luxury homes in the stunning setting of Alderley Park – a 400-acre former country estate which is situated within the Cheshire East local authority area. As winners of the regional award, both Barrie and Mick are shortlisted as finalists in their category for the LABC Grand Finals at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, on 23 January, where the national winners will be announced. Alex Bedson, Construction Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “Everyone at Jones Homes congratulates Barrie and Mick on their fantastic achievement at being chosen as winners in the Construction Specialist of the Year category for the North West region. Their dedication to their craft and ability to lead a successful team are exceptional and make them worthy of such an accolade. “Barrie’s pursuit of excellence is fuelled by his desire to achieve exceptional levels of customer satisfaction. Since joining us at Jones Homes three years ago, Barrie has delivered an exceptional 100 per cent recommendation rate on all in-house and HBF (Home Builders Federation) surveys through his attention to detail in all areas of site management “Barrie’s two decades in construction have allowed him to accumulate a high level of technical expertise and experience and his clear and collaborative communication style has been integral to the success of the build at Bowland Rise. “Mick, who started in the industry 30 years ago and worked his way up from apprentice bricklayer to Senior Site Manager, is using all of his experience and knowledge to fulfil the complex brief for Alderley Gardens, where there are Grade II-listed buildings and structures within the immediate and wider setting. “The project involves the construction of a bespoke range of house designs, with architectural features and materials carefully selected to reflect the historic character of buildings in the vicinity. This work requires a meticulous attention to detail and excellent communication with the site team and they are two facets of the job that Mick excels in. “We are so pleased that Mick’s and Barrie’s exceptional work ethic and expertise has been recognised in this way and wish them all the best in the LABC Grand Finals in January.” Jones Homes is currently building new homes across the North West, at developments in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria. Jones Homes donates £5,000 for sensory garden at Thistle Hill Academy in Minster on Sea
A sensory garden complete with seating, raised beds, lighting and a calm, cosy area, is to be created at Thistle Hill Academy in Minster on Sea, supported by a £5,000 donation from homebuilder Jones Homes. The school plans to start work on the garden in September and complete it by the end of the year. It needs to raise £20,000 to pay for everything, and the donation from Jones Homes brings their current total to £11,000. Jones Homes is building new homes at Shurland Park off Scocles Road, less than half a mile away from the school. Headteacher Becca Handebeaux said: “We are incredibly excited to be developing our new sensory and outdoor learning garden, which will offer our children an inspiring alternative space to learn, explore, and engage with the world around them. “This dedicated outdoor area will provide valuable opportunities for sensory play and hands-on experiences, supporting a wide range of learning styles and needs. “Thanks to the generous donation from Jones Homes, we are able to bring this aspect of learning to life and continue to build on our inclusive vision – opening doors to new, meaningful learning experiences for all our children.” When complete the garden will include a digging zone, a space for pupils to build dens with tools, and sensory stimulation areas. Production Director Nathan Jones and Jones Homes Southern Sales and Marketing Director Sara Stanhope, visited the school to meet some of the children and find out more about the plans for the garden. Sara said: “Thistle Hill Academy has put together a wonderful plan for its sensory garden. It will be a fantastic resource for pupils in the years ahead, providing fun as well as a comforting place to enjoy peace and quiet. “We were keen to help because we are so close to the school and many families coming to live at Shurland Park will want to send their children to Thistle Hill Academy. We want to be a supportive neighbour and a helpful part of this community and to contribute where we can, so we were very happy to help with a £5,000 donation.”
Jones Homes prepares to start work on 100 homes in Hoo St Werburgh
Jones Homes is preparing to start work on a development of 100 new homes in Hoo St Werburgh which will generate £1.9 million of investment in infrastructure. Medway Council has consented plans for the development on a nine-acre site off Stoke Road, which will be known as Abbots View. Jones Homes previously built 65 homes at Walnut Grange on a nearby parcel of land. Work will start on the new development in winter 2025. Almost one third of the land at Abbots View will be designated as green open space for community uses, which will include a children’s play area. There will be 75 homes for private sale and 25 affordable homes. This will include 15 properties for low-cost rent and 10 for shared ownership. The homes will have two, three and four bedrooms, which have been designed to help meet the need for new high-quality single-storey homes in Hoo St Werburgh. Outline planning consent for the development had been granted in December 2022 and Medway Council has now consented the detailed designs for the homes and layouts. Jon Tite, Commercial Director at Jones Homes, said: “Abbots View will further Jones Homes’ commitment to providing homes and wider investment in Hoo St Werburgh. “The private and affordable homes will be built to the high standards for which Jones Homes is known, with energy-efficient features. “In addition we will be investing in transport, healthcare, education, community and culture in the area.” As part of the planning agreement for Abbots View, Jones Homes will contribute more than £506,808 for road improvements; £58,617 for nursery and primary school provision; £456,929 for secondary school provision; £238,906 for improvements to the Walter Brice Centre and other health services; £301,883 towards cultural and community facilities including towards a new sports centre and improvements to Hoo Library; £105,089 towards enhancements of open space; and £207,793 for other infrastructure improvements near the site. The company, which has its Southern Head Office in Swanley, previously paid more than £1 million to Medway Council to support infrastructure under the planning agreement for Walnut Grange. The first homes at Abbots View are expected to be released for sale in summer 2026. Residents are expected to move in from early 2027.
Jones Homes reopens historic Walled Garden at Alderley Park as it launches second phase of new homes
The historic Walled Garden within the stunning parkland setting of Alderley Park in Cheshire is reopening to visitors as Jones Homes launches the second phase of its exclusive Alderley Gardens development. The developer is unveiling a new four-bedroom Elvaston show home and releasing the first three houses for sale in phase two of the development, in Nether Alderley, on Saturday 6 September. Alderley Gardens comprises a total of 50 luxury homes – 33 three, four and five-bedroom properties which have been completed in the first phase within the former Kitchen Garden, and 17 four-bedroom houses in the Walled Garden Collection, which are now being built. Carol Barlow, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes North West, said: “It will be an absolute pleasure to welcome visitors to join us as we reopen the historic Walled Garden at Alderley Gardens, where we are building a collection of energy-efficient and stylish four-bedroom family homes. “We will be releasing three new homes in three different styles – the Elvaston, Carisbrooke and Pembridge. Although there are different looks and designs to suit a variety of tastes, all of these houses offer a thoughtful and spacious internal lay-out which offer the flexibility and comfort that modern buyers are looking for. “These homes feature expansive areas of glazing, including floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interiors with natural light and offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape.” Jones Homes North West is creating two distinct areas at Alderley Gardens, using sensitive approaches for each in terms of layout, aesthetics and materials. The design of homes within the Walled Garden is much more contemporary than the traditional-style properties built within the Kitchen Garden, which echo the stables and original house at Alderley Park. In contrast, homes in the Walled Garden Collection feature large areas of glazing alongside exposed oak to reference structures such as orangeries and glasshouses. The brickwork style, gables and pitched slate roofs echo gardeners’ cottages while horizontal weatherboarding is reminiscent of garden structures. Carol said: “The interior of the Elvaston show home, which features a spacious open-plan kitchen/family/dining area, bi-fold doors, home audio and underfloor heating, has been designed to match the contemporary feel of the external appearance of the property. “The house has been carefully furnished and decorated by our team of interior design experts and really does provide the wow factor for visitors to this gorgeous setting.” Alderley Park is a 400-acre parkland site, previously home to an imposing country house dating back to the 16th century. It now features a state-of-the-art gymnasium, sports and leisure facilities, a gastro pub, and coffee shops. Complimentary champagne and canapes will be served to visitors at the launch of the Walled Garden Collection on Saturday 6 September between midday and 4pm. For more information about the event and the new homes at Alderley Gardens, visit jones-homes.co.uk/alderley-gardens.

Jones Homes has started work on an exclusive enclave which will bring 34 new homes to the Lancashire village of Barton, near Preston. The developer recently completed the purchase of the 5.8-acre site to the rear of Shepherd’s Farm, off Garstang Road, with its detailed plans for the land approved by Wyre Council in May this year. The new development will be called Highcroft and will deliver 24 houses for private sale and 10 affordable homes available for local people. Carol Barlow, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Lancashire, said: “With the land purchase completed, we are starting work on creating a new development to help benefit the village. “This site was allocated in the Wyre Local Plan for residential development and will deliver much-needed quality homes to the area. “The homes have been designed to blend in with the local architecture, while the planning agreement for the development will see Jones Homes provide substantial contributions towards sustainable transport and local primary and secondary schools. “The variety of property sizes, including some new styles of three, four and five-bedroom designs – will appeal to a range of house-hunters including first-time buyers, couples and growing families who need more space, to ensure the creation of a vibrant new community. “Highcroft is located in a semi-rural setting and has the local village facilities of Barton and Broughton and the shops, bars and restaurants of the ancient town of Garstang and the bustling city of Preston both six miles away, with the nearby M6 offering access to the wider region and beyond. “Now that work is underway, we are looking forward to releasing the first homes for sale in 2026 and handing the keys over to the first residents as their homes are completed.” For more information about the new properties being built by Jones Homes at Highcroft, visit jones-homes.co.uk.
Jones Homes’ Sanctuary Wilmslow is a finalist in national property awards

Jones Homes buys land for new 40-home development in Burgess Hill
Jones Homes has acquired a plot of land next to its completed Folders Grove development in Burgess Hill to create a new 40-home scheme. The company completed the acquisition of the site, which is around four and a half acres in size, on Friday 4 July. Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “With planning permission already in place, this land purchase enables us to progress with our plans to deliver an additional selection of desirable homes for the area. “We have planned a neighbourhood that will fit in seamlessly with the existing development and provide much-needed high-quality housing while respecting the landscape. “The location is attractive and sustainable because the services people need such as healthcare, shopping, schools and public transport, are available nearby. We are very much looking forward to beginning construction of The Oaks at Folders Grove.” The development will be made up of 28 private homes and 12 affordable homes. The private homes will be two, three, and four-bedroom houses. The site of the new development is off Folders Lane, Burgess Hill. As part of its planning agreement for the scheme Jones Homes has agreed to invest more than £600,000 in local services and infrastructure. This includes more than £380,000 for education, and money for community buildings, sport, the library service, and play space. Jones Homes’ existing Folders Grove development, which was completed in 2023, created 73 new homes and as part of its planning agreement the company paid more than £1.2 million towards local services and infrastructure.
Jones Homes sponsors Swale Women’s Charity Rugby Day
Players and spectators at a women’s charity rugby match on the Isle of Sheppey were kept refuelled thanks to a Kent housebuilder. Jones Homes Southern donated £800 towards the running of the Swale Women’s Charity Rugby Day which took place at Sheppey RFC’s ground in Minster on Sea on Saturday 19 April. The family fun day was jointly organised by the club and the Mayor of Swale, Councillor Ben Martin, to promote women’s and girls’ rugby and to raise money for the mayor’s nominated charities – local domestic abuse charity SATEDA and Lupus UK. The donation from Jones Homes, which is building homes at Shurland Park in Minster, was used to provide each of the players with supplies of energy drinks, water, fruit, sweets and chocolate to keep them going during and after the match – as well as a range of food for spectators to enjoy. A Swale combination team made up from the Sheppey, Faversham and Sittingbourne women’s teams took on an outfit starring players from Maidstone Women’s Rugby Club and Aylesford Bulls Ladies, with the Maidstone and Aylesford side coming out on top by 42 points to 35. Aside from the rugby, there were a variety of other attractions, including arts and crafts stalls, an ice cream van, a bouncy castle, a rugby ball rodeo, a Tackle O’Meter and later in the day, a silent auction, a raffle and a DJ. Amy Simmance, club secretary at Sheppey RFC, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to get this very generous donation from Jones Homes. It is great to know that such a prestigious company is backing what we do down here at Sheppey RFC. “Here at the club we usually serve up burgers and hotdogs but £600 of the donation allowed our chef to get more adventurous with the cuisine and to buy chicken and beef and whole host of sauces to offer delicious hot meat rolls and of course, a vegetarian option. “We used the remainder of the money to treat all the players to a ‘goodie bag’ of drinks and sweets and even an Easter egg, as small thank you for taking part. “The challenge match was the perfect showcase for everything that is good about women’s rugby, while the other attractions and activities proved a real hit with families. All in all, it was resounding success with the rugby family and the local community coming together to help the Mayor of Swale raise funds for his chosen charities.” The event raised a total of £980 for SATEDA and Lupus UK. SATEDA is a domestic abuse charity supporting women and children across Swale, Maidstone and the wider Kent area. Lupus UK is the only national registered charity that supports sufferers of lupus, which is a chronic autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues, causing inflammation and damage. Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “As a local housebuilder with a long-standing presence on the Isle of Sheppey, we were more than happy to support the rugby club in hosting this really special day to help promote women’s and girls’ rugby and raise money for good causes". To find out more about the new homes at Shurland Park, click here “We’re pleased that our donation contributed to a successful event which brought the local community together in the name of fundraising and encouraging increased female participation in sport.”
Jones Homes celebrates 25 years of housebuilding in Treeton, South Yorkshire
Jones Homes is celebrating 25 years of housebuilding in Treeton as the company nears the end of a construction project which has delivered more than 400 new homes in the village across four developments. The housebuilder has built the final new homes at Beaumont Grange, a collection of 94 houses which comprises its fourth development to be completed in the village since the turn of the millennium. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are very proud to be celebrating an association with Treeton which spans a quarter of a century. This is a wonderful, warm community and it is lovely to see that all four developments have integrated seamlessly into village life. “Our reputation for building top-quality properties has attracted local people and buyers from further afield, while the sought-after location – with village amenities on the doorstep, yet with Rotherham, Sheffield and the M1 just a short drive away – has also convinced people to make Treeton their home.” The final two homes – a three and a four-bedroom design – are for sale at Beaumont Grange, where construction work is now completed. Jones Homes to build executive homes in Edgerton
Jones Homes has acquired land in Edgerton where it will build an exclusive development of 40 new executive homes. The land deal to purchase the site was completed on Wednesday 5 February with planning permission for the 7.8-acre site off Queen’s Road already in place. The development, which will be called Clayton Manor, will consist of a collection of four and five-bedroom detached houses all for private sale. David Ruffley, Regional Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We have now completed the acquisition of this site, with our detailed plans approved by Kirklees Council in November 2024, so we are now very much looking forward to starting construction. “Clayton Manor will be an attractive residential development which will deliver much-needed quality housing for the area and will provide a mix of high-specification four and five-bedroom detached houses. “The development lies within the Edgerton Conservation Area which is identified as a leafy Victorian residential neighbourhood with large, detached houses set in generous grounds. The layout of our scheme pays due regard to that and replicates the generous size of plots and substantial building footprints of its neighbours. Materials have been carefully chosen to reflect the surrounding architecture including the use of natural stone and slate. “The attractive and sustainable design of the development will see trees and hedgerows retained where possible, with this existing greenery supplemented by a programme of new tree and shrub planting. “There will be two significant areas of public open space, one on the southern edge of the site and the other in a central position, with a network of paths linking the site with local rights of way.” As part of the planning agreement, Jones Homes Yorkshire is to pay more than £362,000 towards improvements to local infrastructure and facilities, including more than £248,000 to the council towards the provision of affordable housing for local people in the north Huddersfield area. David said: “In addition to providing funding towards affordable housing, Jones Homes will also be contributing £89,547 towards education provision at Birkby Junior School and Birkby Infant and Nursery School, with further contributions towards Metrocards. The first homes at Clayton Manor are due to be released for sale in summer 2025. To register for updates visit Clayton Manor.

The first phase of the scheme features 10 three, four and five-bedroom homes – 95 for private sale and five affordable homes – with nine of these now complete. A play area, an attenuation basin and public open space will also be created. Jones Homes completes first phase at Alderley Gardens
Jones Homes has finished building the first phase of homes within an award-winning luxury development in the stunning setting of Alderley Park. The housebuilder has completed 33 new homes at Alderley Gardens, on land which was historically used as a kitchen garden at the 400-acre former country estate near Nether Alderley. Just a handful of three, four and five-bedroom homes remain for sale in the first phase and are ready to move into. A new show home has recently opened to showcase the four-bedroom Peckforton house. The quality of the homes at Alderley Gardens has been recognised by industry body NHBC, which awarded site manager Mick Simpson a Pride in the Job Quality Award. These accolades are only given to the industry’s elite. Carol Barlow, Sales Director for Jones Homes North West, said: “We have more than half of the development now occupied. It is lovely to witness this new community forming in this beautiful location. “We were delighted that Mick Simpson’s hard work and consistent attention to detail secured him a prestigious Pride in the Job Award. It is well-deserved recognition for Mick and his team. Their exceptional standards have benefited every single customer – and helped Jones Homes North West to secure a 100 per cent customer satisfaction rating.” Nick Mosley, owner of Alderley Edge-based estate agents Andrew J Nowell, said: “The availability of these properties represents a unique opportunity for someone to buy their dream home in a truly spectacular setting. “The design and specification are everything the discerning buyers in this area demand, and the finish is second to none, which is evidenced by the Pride in the Job award win. “There won’t be many more chances to own a characterful home with the energy efficiency and other benefits of a new-build property at this sought-after development. The success of Alderley Gardens to date demonstrates that it has hit the sweet spot in this competitive market.” One couple who moved into a Peckforton property at Alderley Gardens in March said they love their new home and the peaceful rural surroundings at the development. “This house is perfect for us,” they said. “Our favourite space is the kitchen/dining/family room which is the heart of our home where we get together. The other weekend we had a party for 20 people and with both bi-fold doors open it allowed us to mix indoor and outdoor entertainment. “We love our enormous master bedroom because not only does it have an en suite with a double shower and a bath but we have had wardrobes fitted and dressing room area created too. “Sometimes the little things count for a lot and being able to drive the car into the garage, open the boot and unload the shopping straight into the utility room through the interior door is really convenient.” Carol added: “The sheer quality of these properties has to be seen to be fully appreciated, which is why we have opened the new Peckforton show home on site. People can come along, see the specification and finish, and visualise what it might be like to live in one of these homes in this special location. “As well as enjoying picturesque parkland surroundings, Alderley Gardens is just a short walk from Alderley Park’s leisure and fitness facilities, lakeside walks and The Churchill Tree pub, which has built an enviable reputation since opening in 2020.” There is currently a choice of three, four and five-bedroom homes available to reserve at Alderley Gardens, with prices starting at £684,950. For more information about the development, visit jones-homes.co.uk/alderley-gardens.

Jones Homes is building family homes at its Teasel Green development in Eggborough, just over a mile from the school, supplied the enclosed outdoor structure which has bookshelves, a roof and a glass-fronted door so that the children can see what’s inside. It has been put in place in the school’s wellbeing garden. Headteacher Alison Coventry said: “After Covid, our school council wanted to create an area in school where people could go if they felt anxious or worried. They then designed our wellbeing garden in memory of one of our teachers, Jayne Hardy, who sadly passed away last year. “Reading for pleasure and reading to support mental health is a strong focus in our school and so our children wanted an outdoor library. “They wanted to be able to read in the area and be able to have access to new books without needing to buy. The outdoor library that was kindly donated by Jones Homes has helped the children achieve this vision. “The children love it, and we are hoping that families will use it to swap books rather than feeling the need to buy them.” Teasel Green Sales Advisor Janette Ager, visited the school at the end of term to see how the pupils were enjoying the new library. Jones Homes Yorkshire Sales and Marketing Director Jayne Swift said: “We are new to the area of Eggborough, building family homes and are happy to be able to support the local community. “The outdoor library is a fantastic idea and what a great resource for the children to be able to settle down with a good book while they are having some quiet time in the wellbeing garden. “It will give them a chance to read as much as they like without having to buy new books, which can be expensive.” Jones Homes is building 30 three, four and five-bedroom houses at Teasel Green. Jones Homes opens doors to new show home at Alderley Gardens
Jones Homes has unveiled a new three-storey show home at a luxurious new development in Nether Alderley, where over half of the properties have been built on phase one. The housebuilder opened the doors to a three-bedroom Woodsford townhouse at Alderley Gardens, which is located in the grounds of Alderley Park. Visitors were given free champagne and canapes at a weekend-long launch event held at the site on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February. An Independent Financial Advisor attended to give prospective purchasers independent mortgage advice while Jones Homes’ sales advisors were on hand to explain the benefits of its Agency Assist scheme. So far, the housebuilder has completed 18 of the 50 properties it is delivering at the development off Congleton Road. New residents have moved into nine of the homes on the site while another seven properties have been reserved. Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “Alderley Gardens is a much sought-after development which is set in the enviable surroundings of the 400-acre Alderley Park. There is an incredible buzz in the area about these homes and this was evidenced by our successful launch event which was well attended and saw two properties reserved. “As well as enjoying the champagne and canapes provided, our visitors took the opportunity to explore the new Woodsford show home, the Peckforton View Home and the three-bedroom Downton show home, which has been very popular since we unveiled it in February last year. The Woodsford was a real hit as it showcases perfectly how having your home spread across three levels provides extra space and allows for greater privacy for family members and guests who come over to stay. This property has the flexible space which is ideal for families with teenage children and for those who work from home. “Throughout the weekend, potential purchasers kept the independent mortgage advisor busy, as well as our own sales advisors who were on hand to explain how our Agency Assist initiative works. Through this scheme we will appoint an independent estate agent to value a customer’s existing home – and hold the new Jones Homes property they’d like to move to for up to six weeks while a buyer for their old place is found. We will liaise with the estate agent and will pay up to £3,000 towards estate agent fees as part of the scheme.” Alderley Gardens is a collection of three, four and five-bedroom houses being built on a site which occupies the former Walled Garden and Kitchen Garden in the grounds of Alderley Park. Previously home to a grand country house dating back 500 years, Alderley Park now features a state-of-the-art gymnasium, sports and leisure facilities, a pub, restaurants and coffee shops. Simon added: “The glorious countryside setting of Alderley Gardens has attracted a real mix of purchasers including families drawn by the wide-open spaces, downsizers attracted by the high quality three-bedroom homes and people wanting to retire to a peaceful neighbourhood which offers so much on its doorstep. “Most of our buyers have so far been local which tells us that they know and appreciate just how fabulous this location is. People are loving not only being able to explore the stunning outdoor spaces of Alderley Park but also being able to stroll along to the superb Churchill Tree pub and restaurant, which was chosen as one of the best new pubs in the UK in 2023 by The Publican.” There is currently a choice of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Alderley Gardens, with prices starting at £674,950. Wilmslow High School races into national final of F1 design challenge with help from Jones Homes
Students at Wilmslow High School are loving life in the fast lane after qualifying for the national finals of a motor racing design competition. The A-level pupils entered the Lenovo F1 in Schools challenge by designing and constructing their own mini F1 racing car, supported by ongoing sponsorship from local developer Jones Homes. The housebuilder, which is building new homes in the town, has donated £450 to support the students in the professional class of the competition. The team – called Exhausted Racing – took part in the North West regional final at Bolton University on Tuesday 30 January and will now go forward to the national finals in March. Last year, when the students were competing in the development class, Jones Homes covered their entry fees for the regional competition and donated £250 towards their expenses for the national finals. Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, which is based in Alderley Edge, said: “The dedication, ingenuity and enthusiasm that these teenage students bring to the table when preparing for and competing in this challenge is truly inspirational. This competition is a fantastic way for students to learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related subjects through a connection with the exciting adrenaline-fuelled world of F1. “It was a pleasure to continue our support and sponsorship of Exhausted Racing, who showed what they have to offer by finishing an impressive fifth out of 33 teams representing England, Scotland and Wales last year. We now wish them the best for when they take part in the national finals later this year.” As part of the project, the teams design their vehicle with CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, then analyse, make, and test their vehicle. Students are encouraged to collaborate with industry experts and make links with businesses, raising sponsorship and developing a budget. Student Jack Shaw, project manager for Exhausted Racing, said: “We are proud to announce that we took home the first-place trophy for the regional finals and will be progressing to the national finals that will take place in Rotherham in early March. “We have also had the opportunity to mentor some of the younger teams from our school who took home first place in the entry class and third place in the development class. As well as this as a school we were awarded the pit display award, sponsorship and marketing award and the best engineered car for our entry class team. “We would like to thank Jones Homes for their sponsorship and support throughout our racing journey and we look forward to working with the company again in the future.” Jones Homes is building homes at its developments nearby in Bollin Park, Sunfield, Sanctuary Court, Sanctuary Wilmslow and Bollin View, which is coming soon. Second purchase with Jones Homes proves the perfect sequel for film-loving couple
Jones Homes was top of the bill when film fanatics Lucy Barber and Chris Chiswick were deciding where to buy a new house. The couple were living in a three-bedroom semi-detached house at the housebuilder’s Arundel Park development in Treeton but were keen to move to a bigger place. And because they were so impressed by the quality of the home at Arundel Park, which Lucy bought a decade ago, they had no hesitation in buying from Jones Homes for a second time at the neighbouring Beaumont Grange site in the village. Lucy, 36, and Chris, 49, reserved their perfect plot – a four-bedroom detached Banbury house – using Jones Homes’ Early Bird scheme. After picking up the keys to their new home, the couple wasted no time in putting their own unique stamp on the property, with an eye-catching interior design theme inspired by some of their favourite movies. Lucy, who works for the family business as a general manager, bought her first home at Arundel Park 10 years ago. She met Chris, a leakage technician, in 2018 and after being together for a few years they decided it was time to buy a new home together. Lucy said: “Since purchasing my first home I have become really fond of the area. I found out about Beaumont Grange a few years after being with Chris and we decided this would be a great place to share a home. “We went to the sales office and looked at the site plan. We were instantly drawn to the homes at the back of the development that overlooked the woods and knew that was the place for us. “The home style we wanted was not available in the first phase of homes so we waited until the next phase for that home to be released. We were able to reserve the home as soon as it was available using the Early Bird scheme offered by Jones Homes. “We went with the Early Bird scheme as we knew exactly what plot we wanted and it ensured that we were able to get it as soon as it was released.” The couple kept in touch with Philippa, the sales advisor at Beaumont Grange, while construction work progressed on the house and they moved into their new home, along with their sphynx cats Marilyn and Manson, once it was completed. Lucy said: “We could not be happier. Both moving experiences I have had with Jones Homes have been amazing. Having now moved in, everything is exactly as we imagined it would be for the past few years. “I originally moved to Arundel Park because each home is different on the outside, making them unique. It is also clear that quality and care has gone into every home, which is why I was so happy to be able to move into another Jones Homes development.” The couple’s new home features an interior design theme which is heavily influenced by their love of films. One of the spare bedrooms has been transformed into a cinema room with a projector and surround sound system so they can watch their favourite movies on a big screen, while the garage resembles a 1980s video shop complete with movie posters and a whole host of other merchandise. Lucy and Chris are full of praise for the customer service they received throughout the house buying process. Lucy said: “Jones Homes supported us so much during the journey, keeping in contact with us during the build, informing us of the Early Bird scheme and checking in on us after moving in. “I could not recommend them enough, which is why we bought a second home with them.” Jones Homes is building 94 new homes at Beaumont Grange, off Wood Lane, including a mix of three, four and five-bedroom houses. Wilmslow High School students qualify for national final of F1 design competition with help from Jones Homes
Students at Wilmslow High School have qualified for the national finals of a motor racing design competition – with support from local housebuilder Jones Homes. The A-level students entered the Lenovo F1 in Schools challenge, which involved designing and building their own mini F1 racing car. Jones Homes, which is building at three developments in the town, covered the students’ entry fees for the regional competition and will now donate £250 towards the team’s expenses for the national stage. The students, who called their team Exhausted Racing, entered the development class in the competition and took part in the North West regional final at Bolton University on Wednesday 15 March. Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, which is based in Alderley Edge, said: “We are so impressed with the Exhausted Racing team, who have worked incredibly hard and with great enthusiasm and ingenuity on their mini racing car. “The Lenovo F1 in Schools competition is a fantastic opportunity for young people. They learn not just about how to design a racing car, but about the business side too. Most importantly they learn about working as a team. “We are very happy to have helped the students on their way with sponsorship, and we are looking forward to seeing how Exhausted Racing performs at the national final. We know they will do themselves proud.” There were 18 teams at the regional event and Exhausted Racing was one of only three to qualify for the next stage. During the event the teams were judged on their pit displays, which showed how they worked on the project, and enterprise portfolios, which focused on sponsors and marketing. They also had to give a presentation to two engineering judges who examined the design and engineering of the car. Exhausted Racing competed in four races, winning each one, and had the third fastest car of the day. The final stage was a presentation to judges in which they talked about their journey and explained what they had learned from taking part in the competition. The team finished second in their class, behind Cheadle Hulme School. The other school to qualify was Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, which won the professional class. Now the Wilmslow High School students will go on to the national final, which will take place later on in the year. During the project the teams design their vehicle with CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, then analyse, make, and test their vehicle. As part of the process, students are encouraged to collaborate with industry experts and make links with businesses, raising sponsorship and developing a budget. Jones Homes, which is building at its Bollin Park, Sanctuary Court and Sanctuary Wilmslow developments in the town, donated £75 to cover the school’s entry fee for the regional heat. Other sponsors included Porsche Wilmslow, Celerity, and Bott and Co Solicitors. Kirsty Regan, Curriculum Team Leader Design and Technology with Computing at Wilmslow High School, said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all the sponsors, as without their support this would not have been possible. We are really pleased that Jones Homes will continue to sponsor us through the next steps of the F1 in Schools competition. “The team are excited to get back to re-designing the car to make improvements and look forward to sharing these further developments as they continue their F1 journey.” To find out more about the Lenovo F1 in Schools competition, visit f1inschools.co.uk. Jones Homes highlights an often-overlooked way to save on household energy bills
With winter drawing to a close many people are taking stock of how much their household energy has cost them over the colder months – and as part of New Homes Week, Jones Homes North West is focusing on the savings to be made on energy by buying a new-build property. Figures from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) released at the end of February show that from April – when the Energy Price Guarantee increases – new-build houses will save their owners an average of more than £3,000 a year in energy costs, compared to an older property. Jones Homes North West, which is building properties across Cheshire and Greater Manchester, is also highlighting an often-overlooked aspect of energy consumption. While much of the focus justifiably lands on how the home is heated and insulated, the company is urging people to also think about the savings to be made by using energy-efficient household appliances, which come as standard in a new Jones Homes property. Sales Director for Jones Homes North West, Simon Whalley, said: “At Jones Homes we look at how a home works from top to bottom when we are thinking about energy efficiency. “While the cost of heating the home is a major consideration, it is a fluctuating cost throughout the year, whereas appliances tend to be working hard all year round. So, it is important to make sure that they are not wasting energy. That is why we install such high-quality products in our new-build homes.” Jones Homes energy efficient homes install a range of energy-efficient appliances, including a combination microwave ovens, electric ovens and fridges that have energy ratings at A-graded. The housebuilder also installs induction hobs which, while they are not currently covered under the rating system, are efficient because they work quickly and there is no wasted heat. New Homes Week, run by the Home Builders Federation, is from Monday 27 February to Friday 3 March this year and highlights the benefits of buying a new-build home. Catherine Wilding, a sales advisor at the Jones Homes development, located off Hospital Road, visited the school to deliver the £5 vouchers. Lesley Jackson, Headteacher at the school, said: “We are really grateful to Jones Homes for supporting St John the Evangelist RC Primary School and it was lovely to welcome Catherine to the school so she could present the book tokens to the pupils in our Year 5 class. “Reading plays a vital role in children being able to access the whole of the curriculum, as well as helping to nurture empathy and imagination. This donation will help the pupils continue to develop their reading skills – and enjoy new stories.” Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “As a socially responsible developer Jones Homes strives not only to deliver much-needed new homes but also to form meaningful relationships within the local community. “World Book Day is a fabulous event which has been going strong since it was created 28 years ago by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and we are happy to be able to support our local school celebrate the day. “We hope that the vouchers we have given will help the children at St John the Evangelist Primary School buy a new book and be transported by the written word into a magical world of stories and amazing characters. The ability to read and write with confidence is the cornerstone of any education and we are proud to be able to help these children along that road.” To find out more about the development, visit The Grange.

Jones Homes supports children’s ‘Look for a Book’ trail in Thorpe Hesley Jones Homes donated 50 books to a ‘Look for a Book’ initiative in Thorpe Hesley which was designed to engage children in reading over the school holidays. Jacki Habershon, who runs The Little Book Barn, reached out to the housebuilder explaining that she was running the event. Children could seek out the books, and once they had read them, they would hide them again around the village for others to enjoy. Jacki said: “The Look for a Book event in Thorpe Hesley has been a real success. Lots of parents and their children have commented on what a great initiative it has been and how much they enjoyed it. “In total, I managed to raise sponsorship for 200 books to be hidden around the village and Jones Homes’ contribution was a big part of helping to get all those books into the hands of local children and their families.” Jones Homes is currently building new homes at Wentworth View in Thorpe Hesley. Work began on the homes in 2020 and almost 50 families have now moved in. As part of its planning agreement for Wentworth View, Jones Homes provided starter homes for first-time buyers and invested more than £1m in infrastructure through Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy contributions. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We were delighted to be able to help Jacki with her children’s book event. It is so important to encourage young children to continue reading, even when not at school. “We have many children on the development at Wentworth View who may have found some of the books to enjoy for themselves. Jones Homes purchases land to build 50 homes at Alderley Park
Jones Homes is preparing to start work on 50 new homes in Nether Alderley after purchasing 6.3 acres of land at Alderley Park. The development, to be known as Alderley Gardens, will transform two sites within the 400-acre Alderley Park country estate. Jones Homes, which is based under two miles away in Alderley Edge, will build 33 homes on vacant land which was historically used as a kitchen garden. The remaining 17 homes will be built within the former walled garden which sits on adjoining land. The housebuilder, which is part of The Emerson Group based in Alderley Edge, secured planning consent for the development of three, four and five-bedroom homes in December. The land deal was completed in February. Mark Emerson Jones, Deputy Chairman of The Emerson Group, said: “Jones Homes will take great pride in delivering the sensitive redevelopment of a key site within this attractive parkland setting. “Jones Homes is known for creating homes of exceptional quality and design, and this hallmark will be identifiable at Alderley Gardens. “We have a long heritage in Cheshire and have earned a reputation for building attractive developments which take an architectural lead from the area. “At Alderley Gardens, there will be a blend of traditional and contemporary designs to echo the new and converted listed buildings which now sit within Alderley Park. “We anticipate this development attracting interest from people across Cheshire who are seeking a more balanced lifestyle. With leisure and dining facilities already in place, and Alderley Edge so close by, Alderley Gardens will offer a tranquil yet well-served community within one of Cheshire’s most sought-after areas.” Alderley Park is home to a state-of-the-art gymnasium, sports and leisure facilities, a pub, restaurants and coffee shops. In line with planning agreements for the development, Jones Homes will be contributing £700,083 in the form of a Community Infrastructure Levy. The S106 secures the provision of 8 dwellings to be provided at Alderley Park, set aside for key workers at a discounted price. Alderley Gardens is perfectly located just under ten miles away from the M6 and eight miles from Manchester Airport. Local shopping and leisure facilities such as The Trafford Centre and The Arndale Centre are also just under 20 miles away. With construction work due to start imminently at Alderley Gardens, the first homes are expected to be released for sale in the summer. For more information, see jones-homes.co.uk/alderley-gardens
Jones Homes helps Golcar Cricket Club celebrate 150th Anniversary
A village cricket club marking its 150th anniversary has received support from Jones Homes by purchasing advertising space on the perimeter of the club’s field ahead of the landmark season. Jones Homes has just completed a development of 19 new homes on land off Swallow Lane, opposite the cricket club. Jones Homes named the development Century View, after the cricketing term used to describe the achievement of a batsman scoring a hundred runs in a single innings. Now, the developer hopes its support will help the club to celebrate its very own special milestone in style. Founded in 1871, Golcar Cricket Club has three senior teams and five junior sides featuring around 100 children who play in competitive matches across the county. David Ruscoe, Chairman of Golcar Cricket Club, said: “As for most outdoor sports clubs, it’s been a particularly difficult year for us, and we have relied even more heavily on the support of the community and local businesses. “We are currently fundraising to enable us to refurbish our clubhouse, extend our CCTV coverage and provide additional outdoor seating, and the money that Jones Homes has provided will go some way in helping us reach our fundraising goal.” Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “It was obvious from the feedback we received from our purchasers and visitors at Century View that the cricket club is a vital part of the village, and we are pleased to be helping celebrate its 150th anniversary this year. “We realise that the past 12 months have been extremely tough for grassroots sports clubs which play such an important role within their local communities. We hope our support will enable the club to enjoy a successful milestone year and to continue providing opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the sport for many years to come.” All the homes at Century View have now been sold, but Jones Homes is currently building a selection of five-bedroom homes at Heather View in Hade Edge. Bricklaying students get valuable insight into careers in construction on visit to new homes development in Minster
Bricklaying students from EKC Sheppey College in Sheerness got to see what working on a construction site is really like when they visited a new homes development in nearby Minster on Sea. The students were invited by Jones Homes to its Shurland Park development, where it is building 171 homes on land off Larch End, as part of an ongoing relationship between the housebuilder and the college. They were given a guided tour of the construction site by Site Manager, Shane McIver, and Trainee Assistant Site Manager, Maya Bailey, who talked them through the process of building a home from start to finish. The budding bricklayers also heard about the importance of health and safety on site and the wealth of career opportunities within the industry. A total of 28 students toured the site in two separate visits held across two days. Last year, a group of eight construction students from the college were given a similar guided tour of the development. Daniel Irwin, Programme Director for Construction at EKC Sheppey College, which is part of East Kent Colleges Group, said: “Having strong links with industry employers is a major part of our offering to learners on vocational courses at the college and we greatly value our partnership with Jones Homes. “The site visit to Shurland Park was an excellent opportunity for our bricklaying students to see a real-life construction site in action, and to get a better understanding of how the skills they are learning on their course can be applied to the world of work. “I’d like to thank Shane, Maya and the team at Shurland Park for hosting the visit and giving our students a really useful insight into the kind of career opportunities that are available to them in the industry.” Shane McIver, Site Manager for Jones Homes at Shurland Park, said: “It’s really important as an industry that we play our part in developing the next generation of housebuilders and that’s what site visits like this are all about. “It was great to show the students around the development and to give them a better understanding of what working on a construction site is really like. We hope they enjoyed the experience and left knowing a bit more about the industry as a result. “We’re proud of our ongoing relationship with Sheppey College which aims to inspire local students to develop their skills and ultimately build successful careers in construction.”
Work progresses on new phase of homes at Century View in Golcar
Construction work is progressing well on the second phase of properties at Jones Homes’ Century View development in Golcar. The housebuilder is delivering 21 new homes on a 1.8-acre site off Swallow Lane, next to where it has built and sold 19 properties in phase one. Work began on this latest phase in September last year and the first properties are due to be completed late summer. There will be 17 properties for private sale and four affordable homes. All the homes will have an electric vehicle charging point and at least two off-road parking spaces, while more than 500 square metres of public open space will have been created within the whole development. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “This latest collection of homes at Century View will continue to meet the significant demand for new housing in the area. This has been evident in the extremely high levels of interest we have witnessed from prospective buyers. Just three days after we announced that our sales centre would be opening on 21 March, we were inundated with telephone calls and our VIP weekend appointments were full within hours for the launch weekend. “The mix of house sizes and styles has been carefully chosen to meet the specific needs of local buyers, with spacious three-bedroom family homes accounting for more than a half of the properties in this latest phase. As well as a range of three, four and five-bedroom houses for the private market, there will also be four affordable three-bedroom properties – two available as starter homes and two for social rent.” As part of the planning agreement for the properties, Jones Homes will provide funding of more than £80,000 for education, public open spaces, and ecology measures. Jayne said: “With the sales centre now open, we are looking forward to opening a four-bedroom show home at the site in late summer and to handing over the keys to the first residents soon afterwards.” To find out more about the new homes at Century View, click here.
Planning Permission Granted To Bring 251 New Homes To Garstang
Jones Homes together with Story Homes secure planning permission to bring 251 new homes to Garstang A new development is set to bring employment opportunities and community improvements of c.£2.8m to the Lancashire town of Gastang. Housebuilders Jones Homes and Story Homes are delighted to have secured planning permission to deliver a new residential development on land between Nateby Crossing Lane and the A6 in Garstang. Wyre Borough Council resolved to grant planning consent for the scheme at its Planning Committee meeting on 01 May 2024, subject to conditions, giving the housebuilders the green light to work in partnership to deliver 251 new homes in Garstang. As part of the joint venture, Jones Homes will deliver the 118 and Story Homes the remaining 133 homes. The housebuilders have worked together closely to design a scheme that will deliver much-needed homes, including 75 affordable homes for eligible people with a connection to the local area. As part of the new scheme, the two developers will make a number of significant community payments in line with the Section 106 Agreement*, totalling over £2.8m. This includes contributions towards transport and local highway improvements and primary and secondary education. The scheme will also include the improvement of pedestrian footways, a crossing and bus stops in the local area to benefit new and existing residents. Dan Bolton, Land Director for Jones Homes (Lancashire) said: “This project in Garstang is a perfect example of Jones Homes’ commitment to building thriving communities. We’re not just building houses but creating quality places where people want to live. From the energy-efficient designs to the thoughtfully planned public spaces, every detail is intended to foster a sense of belonging and community. “As part of our commitment to the area we will also be making significant financial contributions towards education and highways for use by the public sector. We are confident that this development will be a successful one and enormously beneficial to the area for many years to come.” Martin Nugent, North West Head of Land & Planning at Story Homes, said: “We’re delighted that Wyre Borough Council has approved our application to deliver 251 high quality new homes in Garstang. The properties at this development have been designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, with internal layouts that offer modern, open-plan living spaces and exterior design details that will create the unique street scenes for which Story Homes is renowned. “The scheme includes a range of one to five-bedroom homes and will deliver a number of benefits to the local community, such as the provision of open market and affordable homes, and usable areas of public open space, including an equipped play area. We’re excited to see our plans come to life and to see construction works begin.” The two developers are committed to investing in Lancashire as a region, and this new scheme will continue to create benefits for the local economy during the construction phase; via direct and indirect employment opportunities through the subcontractor and supply chains, as well as an increased demand for local businesses and services when the new homes are occupied. Construction works at the Garstang development are set to begin in July this year.

Saving money on energy and getting more space are driving brisk sales of new-build homes in Yorkshire
Demand for energy efficient homes and more space is driving strong sales of new-build properties, according to Jones Homes Yorkshire. The homebuilder, which has developments in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, is experiencing a high level of demand from buyers across the region as house-hunters seek more rural locations while aiming to keep their fuel bills down. Dinah Stephenson, Area Sales Manager at Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “Buyers have always been interested in energy efficiency, but it has now become a much bigger priority than ever.” “Sustainability and the environment are important to people and with the price of gas and electricity soaring, customers are highly focused on not using excessive amounts of fuel. “They know that a newly constructed property, with all the latest energy saving features and modern insulation techniques will be cosy and yet won’t cost them a fortune to run. That is one reason why Jones Homes properties are drawing a lot of attention from house-hunters.” Dinah also highlighted the growing trend of people wanting more space at home, which is prompting sales. “Since the pandemic, more people are working from home and that means they need a dedicated space to do so. “Perching at the dining room table is fine as a stopgap, but as lifestyles change people want a permanent and workable solution. So, homes with extra bedrooms, or a study are catching people’s eye. “We have also seen a greater desire for a good work-life balance that includes time with family and friends, and the chance to enjoy the outdoors and the local community. Most of our developments are in villages and market towns which are increasingly attracting buyers looking to leave city life behind in favour of more space in a more rural location.” Part exchange specialist Andrew Demain agrees that the market has developed in several ways that are driving demand. He said: “Since Covid there has been a change in requirements with clients looking at less crowded locations with market towns and semi-rural locations driving demand higher than previously. Also house design demand is changing with more emphasis on home working both with technology in the home, which builders are embracing, and a study or extra bedrooms.” Andrew is from Property Perspective, which runs Jones Homes Yorkshire’s Agency Assist scheme helping those buying a Jones Homes property to sell their current home. He has found that the market has been brisk among people who are moving on to a new home from one they already own. “Our valuations have increased over the last two months as have our instructions, and now our sales are also following suit,” he said. “With people moving up the market this is a great time to move as the gap between a client’s existing home and the new home they wish to buy is not opening at the rate it was.” According to MAB New Homes Mortgages, Director, Helen Pierson, many of these buyers will already have mortgage deals on their existing property which can help them when purchasing their next home. She said: “The vast majority of existing mortgage borrowers have fixed rate mortgages and even if these are for a relatively short period it will mean a delayed response to interest rate increases for most people. “Most fixed rate mortgages are portable so can move with you when you move house and if you need to borrow more you can simply “top up” to the amount of mortgage that you need on a current mortgage product.” Helen, from Mortgage Advice Bureau New Homes Mortgages, which works with Jones Homes Yorkshire, says that there are also options for first-time buyers to purchase their first home – such as joint mortgages with partners, inter-generational transfer of wealth, and affordable housing schemes. She said that purchasing a first home makes good financial sense for many people, adding: “Rents are definitely increasing so it’s not necessarily a more affordable option than buying your own home.”

New Show Home opens 25 years after completing our first properties on the Isle of Sheppey
Jones Homes Southern has been a constant presence on the island since it began construction work on its Kingsborough Manor development in Eastchurch in 1999, handing over the first completed homes the following year. In that time it has built 380 homes at developments across Sheppey. And when construction work comes to an end it will have completed a total of 685 homes on the island. The anniversary comes as Jones Homes launches a new show home at its Shurland Park development in Minster on Sea, where it is building 171 new homes on land off Larch End. Mayor of Swale, Councillor Ben Martin, cut the ribbon to declare the three-bedroom show home officially open during a launch event on Saturday 29 March. Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “We have been delivering high-quality homes to customers on the Isle of Sheppey for the last quarter of a century and it’s satisfying to know that so many local people have had the chance to enjoy living in a Jones Homes property over that period. “Our developments have made a major contribution to the area through the supply of new housing, formation of brand-new communities, job creation and increased spending in the local economy as well as significant funding for vital infrastructure. “The show home launch at Shurland Park was a good opportunity to reflect on what we have delivered over the past 25 years and to look forward to the additional homes and investment that we will be providing in the years ahead.” Jones Homes first began building on the Isle of Sheppey in 1999 when it started work on its Kingsborough Manor development in Eastchurch, a flagship scheme of 211 four and five-bedroom executive homes which was completed in 2021. While work continued at Kingsborough Manor, Jones Homes extended its presence to Minster on Sea. In 2009, the housebuilder started construction on 128 homes at Shurland Place, with work finishing in 2015. The neighbouring Shurland Park development, a scheme of 171 homes, launched in April 2023. To date, 53 properties have been built with 41 occupied and a further 12 reserved. Planning permission has also been granted on a new development of 175 homes on a neighbouring parcel of land off Heron Drive. As part of its planning agreement for these homes, Jones Homes will provide £1.8 million in funding for local services, including £837,961 for primary education, £500,000 for highways improvements, and £197,968 for health provision. Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “The handover of the final property at Westwood Park will mark the culmination of a five-year project to create an attractive collection of new homes in the desirable village of Lenham. “Over that time, a strong sense of community has built up among residents who have decided to make Westwood Park their home. While a large proportion of our buyers have been retirees attracted by the beautiful rural location and traditional design of the homes, the development has also attracted families and young couples.” As part of the planning agreement for Westwood Park, Jones Homes has provided over £140,000 to Kent County Council for primary school places; £60,000 towards open spaces; over £55,000 to local healthcare; £20,000 towards traffic improvements and a £10,000 contribution to local libraries. Prior to starting work at Westwood Park, Jones Homes built 19 new homes at its neighbouring Westwood Grange development in the village. Sara said: “We’re proud of our longstanding connection to Lenham, which goes back more than a decade to when we started construction work at Westwood Grange. The homes we have built have not only helped to meet local demand for housing but have also been carefully designed to fit seamlessly into their rural surroundings. The use of features such as timber weatherboarding has ensured that properties reflect the character of the area, which is something that residents really appreciate. “Jones Homes Southern is committed to providing high-quality new homes across Kent and Sussex and we are continuing to seek new land for potential development opportunities across the region.”
Rob engineers a fresh start with new home in Hoo St Werburgh
It might be a cliché that engineers would choose the garage as their favourite room in their home, but for Rob Nunn it is certainly true. Because that is where the 47-year-old has created a dedicated workshop to make items for friends after moving into a new three-bedroom detached Huxley house at Jones Homes’ Walnut Grove development in Hoo St Werburgh. “I needed to make a fresh start so I chose Hoo as the place I wanted to live in,” he said. “I had cycled across the peninsula many, many times on bike rides and was impressed by the countryside landscape and the proximity to the River Medway.” It was on one such bike ride that he noticed a ‘coming soon’ sign for Walnut Grange so he called Jones Homes to register his interest. “They said they were building 65 homes and had already had enquiries from 400 people, so put my name down more in hope than anything else.” “One day, I got the call I was waiting for. I knew I had to act fast as this was a very popular development with only 48 homes going on the private market,” said Rob. “I wanted a three-bedroom house with a garage and the Huxley was perfect for my needs. “As I was buying off plan, I was able to choose the flooring and carpet throughout the house and the tiles for the bathrooms which was great because I was able to get the place to look like I wanted it to and I didn’t have to do any of the work. As an engineer I really appreciate the attention to detail that has gone into the build of this house and the high quality of the specification and the finish.” Rob and his youngest daughter Millie, now 24, moved into their new home in October 2022. “The best thing about the new house is that I have a garage all to myself which I have set up as my workshop,” said Rob. I use this system to create simple items, such as nightlights and bottle openers, for myself and my friends. “I also have all my tools in the garage so that I can be in there and potter about. It is my chill-out zone and helps me destress. I also have a Peleton bike in the spare bedroom which allows me to get some bike miles in when the weather is not so good or I just don’t have time to get out for ride. “I love living in Hoo as it is peaceful and quiet and has a real rural feel and a slower pace of life away from the hustle and bustle. I can see the river from the upstairs at my house and I often just sit and gaze at it and enjoy the feeling of calm it brings me.” The final new home available to buy at Walnut Grange is a four-bedroom Holford detached house, priced from £585,000. A new Jones Homes development, which is located opposite Walnut Grange and will be called Abbots View, is launching this summer.
Sales manager keeps it in the family as she follows in her mum’s footsteps
Terri Stamp is keeping up a family tradition by pursuing a successful career in sales with the same housebuilding company as her mum. The 39-year-old has been appointed Field Sales Manager at Jones Homes North West, based in Alderley Edge, a year after her mother Hilary retired from her position as Area Sales Manager with the developer. Terri is fulfilling a childhood ambition which was formed when she and her friends used to visit her mum at work after primary school. “I was at the village school in Alsager and mum was working 300 yards away at Jones Homes’ Cranford Park development,” said Terri, who still lives in Alsager. “I used to walk down with some of my friends and we would pop in to see mum. “I was so proud of her as she let us see inside the show home, which looked like a palace to us youngsters. I was so in awe of my wonderful, glamorous mum that I wanted to be like her, I wanted to have the same job as her – and now I have.” Terri’s journey in the construction industry began in 2017 when she joined Jones Homes as a trainee sales advisor. “I had grown up with Jones Homes figuring large in our lives, as mum always talked about her work and how much she loved her job, her customers, her colleagues, the company. We even lived in a Jones Homes house. It was all incredibly positive, so when I found myself looking for a career I decided to apply to the company for a job and I was successful. “When I started, I moved around all the sites in the region as it allowed me to get on-the-job experience and to learn how Jones Homes operated. It was great because it allowed me to pick up valuable tips from lots of different people.” Within two months, Terri had sold her first house and by the end of six months she had been taken on as a sales advisor. She said: “I love my job because you are genuinely selling someone their dream home. It’s like no other purchase they will ever make in their lives and it’s an honour and a privilege to be able to help them on that special journey. “I am proud to say that I work for Jones Homes because the houses that we build are of the highest quality and it’s a family-run company which believes in the personal touch. This means that their ethos is to put the customer at the forefront of everything we do and to make sure that when we give them the keys to their new home it is everything that they want.” As Field Sales Manager, Terri is in charge of the five sales advisors at the five developments where Jones Homes North West is selling new homes at the moment. “My role is to help my team hit sales targets and to keep our customers happy. As my title suggests, I am out and about and rarely at my desk at head office in Alderley Edge. By visiting our developments, I can get to really know the sales teams and the sites they are working on and be in the best position to offer them the support and advice that they need to be successful. “When I tell customers I believe that our company builds the best houses I do so with my hand on my heart, as I have bought a Jones Homes property myself. My home is just seven doors away from my parents’ house and I am always popping down to chat about work to mum, who enjoyed a career spanning more than 30 years with Jones Homes. In the end, if I can be anywhere near the amazing salesperson my mum was, then I will be very happy.” Mark Royle, a director at Jones Homes, said: “I am delighted to congratulate Terri on her new role. I am confident she will embrace it with all the enthusiasm shown during her time with Jones Homes. I look forward to working with her and to her future success and that of the company.” For more information about a career with Jones Homes visit https://www.jones-homes.co.uk/about-us/careers/.
How To Make a New Build House a Home
When you step into one of Jones Homes’ new build homes available across the UK, you’re not just stepping into a house; you’re entering a blank canvas that is filled with possibilities. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or looking for the next chapter in your life, these homes offer a unique opportunity to shape your environment exactly as you want it. But how do you turn a new house into a welcoming, comfortable home? Jones Homes offers our top tips on the ways you can add that personal touch and make your new build home truly yours. Why consider a new build home? One of the biggest appeals of new build homes is that they present a fresh start for the owner. There are no remnants of its owners, no inherited repairs and most importantly no unexpected surprises lurking behind old wallpaper. Everything is new, from the roof to the floors, the plumbing to the electrics. This means that you can move in with peace of mind, knowing that your home is safe, secure and built to the last. When you choose a Jones Homes new build home, you’re not just opting for modern design and state-of-the-art features, you’re also gaining the peace of mind that comes with the NHBC Buildmark Warranty. Another appeal of new build homes is their modern design. These homes are equipped with energy-efficient and green technology, from double glazing to high standard insulation, which can save you money on your energy bills while reducing the carbon footprint of you and your family. Many new build homes also come with open-plan living spaces, sleek kitchens and contemporary bathrooms, making them perfect for modern living. Making it personal After finding the perfect new build home, the next step is making it yours. One of the first things to consider is the layout. Whilst new builds are designed with modern living in mind, there is always room to add your personal touches. Consider how you use your space and what will make your home work best for you. Whether that is a cosy reading spot by the window or a spacious dining area to share meals with those you love, think about the little changes you can make to suit your lifestyle. Decorating is where your personality really begins to shine through. With a new build home, you have the freedom to select colours, textures and furnishings that reflect your unique style. You could opt for a neutral base to keep the space light and airy, then add splashes of colour through accessories like cushions, rugs and artwork. Personal mementos, family photos and keepsakes can make your house feel like home and provide comfort in your new surroundings. The importance of community Part of making a new build home feel like yours is to connect with your surroundings. New build developments often come with a built-in sense of community, as many residents relocate around the same time. This creates a unique opportunity to form friendships and connections with your neighbours, built on shared experience. Why not consider joining local clubs, attending community events or simply introducing yourself to those around you? A strong sense of community can significantly enhance your living experience and make your new build home feel like a place where you really belong. Those final touches… As you settle into your new build home, don’t forget the outside space. Your garden can be an extension of your living area and is perfect for creating a relaxing retreat. Planting flowers, adding outdoor seating or even creating a small vegetable garden on your plot can make your new space feel more like home. Don’t forget that making a house a home is a journey. It is about infusing your space with memories, love and personality. With a new build home from Jones Homes, you have the perfect foundation to start this exciting new chapter in your life. ‘We’ve done it!’ Couple move 130 miles north for new life in Derbyshire
A couple who moved 130 miles north into their new home at Jones Homes’ Cavendish Park development in Bolsover were determined to get everything just as they wanted it without delay. So, with an army of helpers and a lot of determination, as well as working through the night, Lauren and Max Barber moved in, wallpapered two rooms, decorated the rest of the house with pictures, and new furniture, and unpacked all 62 boxes in three days. Their three-year-old son Charlie stayed with relatives while all this activity was taking place, but by the time he arrived at his new home, everything was complete. Lauren said: “Charlie walked into his new dinosaur decorated bedroom and said ‘wow’. “By the end of that day it looked like we had been there for months. We sat down with a glass of wine and thought ‘we’ve done it!’” Arranging the move had been a long-distance process because the couple were moving 130 miles north from Oxford to be nearer to Lauren’s family. The move to Derbyshire also meant they could have a much larger house for their money, making it easier to accommodate visitors and longer stays for Max’s family. They purchased a four-bedroom house in Jones Homes’ Hollin design, which features a wide kitchen/family/dining room with doors leading to the garden, a utility room, study and living room, and four double bedrooms, bathroom and en suite shower room. Now that Lauren and Max have moved in along with Charlie – and the family’s Bengal cats Percy and Penny, tortoises Phyllis and Myrtle, mice Betsy, Patty and Ginger and a fully stocked fish tank – all the effort has been worthwhile. The couple paid tribute to the help of sales advisors Jas and Lyndsey who made it easy to progress the purchase despite them living such a long distance away. Lauren said: “They were very supportive, and they had the attitude of ‘what can we do to make this work’.” One of the aspects that made things easier was Jones Homes’ Agency Assist scheme, which allowed them to select the home they wanted and have the housebuilder hold it for them while through the scheme a buyer was found for their three-bedroom semi-detached house in Oxford. Max said: “There were a lot of things to consider because we were moving a long way, but Jas and Lyndsey were helpful and supportive, and I felt they got to know us really well as a family and were interested in us. The customer service has been amazing.” Lauren also praised site manager Carl. “He is so friendly and such a nice guy. They all work really hard on site, all the builders and plumbers, everybody. We have had such a nice experience.” Their new house gives them much more space, and the design works well for the family. Max said: “The way this house is set out is really practical for us with a toddler.” Lauren added: “In our old house we were always looking for space saving ideas and it got to the point we couldn’t live comfortably there. But here we have more space than we know what to do with. We are not on top of each other, and we have nice breakout areas if you need quiet time, or if Charlie wants to do something loud it doesn’t disrupt the whole house.” In fact, the couple looked at a larger five-bedroom house on the development, but decided that while they could have afforded it, the four-bedroom property was quite large enough. They have found their new area to be very friendly, and with the Derbyshire countryside on their doorstep as well as Chesterfield and Sheffield within an easy drive, they have everything they need nearby. Lauren said: “The nice thing about Bolsover is that within 15 minutes we can drive and be climbing the peaks or at the reservoir. Any Derbyshire landscape wouldn’t take long to reach, and Poolsbrook Country Park is perfect for Charlie.” With family nearby too, it has all made for a very welcome change of pace. Lauren said: “We have slowed down a little bit. People are more relaxed here and having more space and less stress and more support from family, means life is much more relaxed. We don’t plan to move.” “You feel like you’re really living up here,” said Max. “It’s really worked for us being out of the city.” There’s currently a choice of three, four and five-bedroom houses available to reserve at Cavendish Park, with prices starting from £239,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached house. Another NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ award for Moorfield Park Site Manager
Jones Homes Lancashire is once again celebrating the success of a site manager who has won a prestigious industry award for the quality of his work. We are super proud that our Site Manager Chris Doolan has won an NHBC Pride in the Job award for the second time at our Moorfield Park development in Poulton-le-Fylde. Chris Doolan, 35, who lives in Preston and is in charge of construction at Jones Homes’ Moorfield Park development in Poulton-le-Fylde, was over the moon when he found out that he had won his a Pride in the Job Quality Award for the second consecutive year. Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in our industry and a prestigious benchmark for exceptional site managers. To win this award for two consecutive years demonstrates a continuity of care and a commitment to the maintenance of high standards. House building is a team effort, but the calibre of the site manager has the most significant influence on the quality of the completed home. The Pride in the Job Awards are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) every year to give recognition to those who achieve the highest standards in construction. Judging for the 2024 competition has been underway since July last year. Thousands of site inspections and meticulous scoring and verification have taken place to determine this years Quality Award winners. Chris initially worked as a plumber after leaving school and completing a plumbing apprenticeship, making the move across into construction in 2013. He worked for another housebuilder as a assistant site manager before joining Jones Homes as a site manager at Moorfield Park. He said: “Everyone within the development works very hard together and we are all dedicated to creating the best outcome. This team effort is what helped us to win the award. “Being a site manager allows you to see the construction of a development from start to finish. One of my favourite things about my job is being able to see the end result, seeing the buyer getting their house and seeing them happy with the finished product.” Chris will now be put forward to be considered for the next stage of the Pride in the Job competition. Seal of Excellence award winners will be announced later this year. A selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes are available to reserve at Moorfield Park with prices starting from £206,995..
Bowland Rise in Dolphinholme welcomes first residents
Duncan & Debbie Open the Door to Their New Jones Home Bowland Rise in Dolphinholme has welcomed Debbie and Duncan as the first residents to move into their brand-new Jones Homes property on this charming cul-de-sac development. A Dream Home in a Familiar Place Duncan and Debbie were already familiar with the charm of Dolphinholme village, having lived there previously. However, they desired a modern upgrade, and Bowland Rise’s stunning contemporary new homes perfectly fit the bill. The couple were particularly drawn to the Bentley S home styles, which offered a dedicated study – ideal for a home office – and a wonderfully spacious open-plan living area at the rear. This design element appealed not only because it creates a bright and airy feel, but their chosen home also boasts beautiful views into the garden and across the rolling green hills of the Bowland Fells beyond. Location, Location, Location – Bowland Rise in Dolphinhome has it The close proximity to the Fleece Inn, the beloved village pub and general store, was another big plus for Duncan and Debbie. It allows for a comfortable blend of village life and modern living with the village being just a few minutes’ drive from the conveniences of Lancaster and Garstang. The development is also served by B4RN fibre internet, a community-led project to bring high-speed fibre optic broadband to rural communities Their decision to choose a Jones Homes property was further solidified by their daughter’s positive experience living in a Jones Homes property in Poulton-le-Fylde and both Duncan and Debbie stated they were particularly impressed with the exceptional service they received throughout the entire homebuying process from Sharon in Sales and their site manager Barrie. Love at First Sight (and Second!) Having been the first to express interest in Bowland Rise in Dolphinholme as soon as plans were submitted, Duncan and Debbie were instrumental in kicking off the development’s journey. They quickly took a trip to see a variety of Jones homes. However, after seeing the Bentley show home on another development, they instantly fell in love with the spacious family room featuring bi-fold doors and skylights that flooded the space with natural daylight. So a decision to secure their perfect plot with an early-bird reservation was quickly made. A New Chapter Begins Duncan and Debbie and Border Terrier Tilly couldn’t be happier with their new home at Bowland Rise. They’ve received excellent service from Jones Homes and secured a beautiful property in a location they adore. They now look forward to welcoming their new neighbours, soon to be joining them at Bowland Rise. We, at Jones Homes, are delighted to welcome them to their new home and wish them all the joy in creating lasting memories within its walls! “It’s changed our lives” – couple buy new house at Cavendish Park after 35 years in their old place
A Derbyshire couple who had lived in their previous home for 35 years made the decision to buy their new house in an instant. Judith and Steve Short looked around the four-bedroom detached property at the Cavendish Park development in Bolsover and immediately fell in love with it. So they reserved it there and then and became the 100th household to move into a new home at the development. Jones Homes gifted the couple a personalised bottle of champagne to celebrate them being the 100th completion on the site. And the couple certainly don’t regret their decision, saying: “It has changed our lives completely.” Judith said: “After we looked at it, we got in the car and started to talk about it and he said, ‘I love it’, and I said, ‘I love it’, and he said, ‘let’s go back in the office.’ It was a quick decision and the right decision.” They had looked at quite a few houses before that without finding anything they wanted, but Judith said: “This one ticked all the boxes.” Judith, 66, a retired Patient Services Manager at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, and Steve, 68, who runs a business maintaining machinery for the recycling industry, began looking for a new home because they wanted something more manageable with a smaller garden. They previously lived in a three-bedroom house with a lot of land around it, a mile away from their new property. Though this house, built in Jones Homes’ Hollin B style, is larger than their old place it works better for them. One of the best things is having a study, Judith said, because everything to do with Steve’s business is contained in that room so the couple can close the door on it at the end of the working day. “We can go in there and do the work and not have laptops scattered around the house and paperwork on the dining table,” she said. They also love the kitchen/dining room, which is spacious and has a breakfast bar – perfect for when the couple’s four daughters and seven grandchildren pay them visits. Judith said: “One of the main things that we wanted was a dining kitchen because I like to cook, and I like to entertain. That’s our lifestyle. The girls come and I do the cooking and we have the grandchildren here. It’s a sociable area. When we first visited the house, we were blown away when we came into the kitchen. It’s just perfect.” But the room she likes best is the bedroom with en suite shower room because it is all so spacious and well designed. In fact, the design of the whole house works for them and makes life easier. “It’s changed our lives completely,” she said. “It feels like it’s easier living. Everything is in the right proportion and the right place. Everything is where you would put it if you were designing your own house. It’s perfect.” They were very pleased with the customer service they received both from the sales advisors and the site team, who were friendly and efficient in all they did. And the sales office has become something of a hub for the neighbours as there has been a Macmillan cake sale there and a mulled wine and mince pie event at Christmas so that all the new residents could get to know each other better. Judith said she met new neighbours there on both occasions and a real community spirit has grown. “They are keeping this little community in touch with each other.” Judith admits she wondered if it might be a wrench to leave the home they had lived in for so long and where they had brought up their family. But though there are a lot of memories attached to the old place, on moving day her thoughts were all about the new beginnings. She said: “I never looked back. I didn’t get upset. I was just excited for the next stage.” There are currently three, four, and five-bedroom homes available at Cavendish Park with prices starting from £258,995. New show home to be launched at Alderley Gardens
A new show home is to be unveiled at Jones Homes’ Alderley Gardens on the weekend before Valentine’s Day. The company is building 50 three, four and five-bedroom homes at the development within Alderley Park near Nether Alderley and is hosting an event over the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February to invite people in to take a look at the second show home to be completed on site. The property is in the homebuilder’s Woodsford home style – a three-bedroom, three-storey townhouse where every bedroom has its own en suite. Visitors to the launch weekend will be served champagne and canapes and will be given a tour of the development including the new show home and the three-bedroom Downton show home which was launched last year. Simon Whalley, Sales Director of Jones Homes North West, said: “We have a special weekend planned for our pre-Valentine show home launch and we hope that homebuyers will call in to find out more and join us for some champagne and canapes. “The Woodsford show home is a flexible and spacious townhouse that has been expertly designed and decorated to inspire visitors and help them imagine just what it would be like to live here. So, I’m sure guests who join us on the day will love it. “In fact, as our show home event is only a few days before Valentine’s Day, we’re hoping many of our visitors will fall in love with their next home while they are here.” The new Woodsford show home, features an open-plan kitchen/dining/family space with bifold doors leading to the rear garden. There is a lounge on the first floor and there are three double bedrooms. The launch event will be attended by an independent mortgage advisor, who will be able to give visitors information about current rates. There will also be an Agency Assist stand where homebuyers can find out about Jones Homes’ scheme to help them sell their old home. As part of the scheme the homebuilder will pay up to £3,000 towards estate agent fees. The event will take place between 12pm until 5pm on Saturday 10 February and Sunday 11 February. There are currently three and four-bedroom homes available to buy at Alderley Gardens, with prices starting from £674,950. The perfect place to work for sisters Janette and Jackie
Sisters Janette Ager and Jackie Ward are now both working as sales advisors for Jones Homes – having both initially applied for the same job. Jackie, 60, and younger sibling Janette, 58, recently joined Jones Homes and are selling new-build properties at different developments in Yorkshire. Janette, who lives in Brough, was appointed by the firm in September and is a sales advisor at Teasel Green in Eggborough, while Jackie, who lives in Micklefield near Leeds, joined the company a month later, and works at Beaumont Grange in Treeton. “I applied for the job first and told Jackie to go for it too as I knew she was looking to make a move from where she was working,” said Janette, a mum-of-two. “We both went for an interview on the same day. Jackie went in first and we saw each other in the car park and wished each other luck. “I got the job and have enjoyed every minute of it. Apparently, they were really impressed with Jackie too and found it hard to choose between us. In the end, they offered Jackie a job a few weeks later, so she has forgiven me.” The sisters, who grew up in Pontefract, began their careers in the construction industry six years ago when Janette landed a job as a sales consultant, after she went along to a housing development when her daughter was buying a new house. “By the end of the appointment, the sales advisor had persuaded me that I would not only be good at the job but that I should apply to the firm,” she said. “I did and they offered me a job which I took.” Jackie joined the building industry when Janette encouraged her to pursue a different career. “Janette knew I would be good at the job and, perhaps more importantly, really love it,” said Jackie, also a mum-of-two. “She was right on both counts. She knows me better than anyone and we have worked closely before when we worked for 15 years at Argos, where we both became store managers. “I am a real people person. I love talking to different people, learning about their lives and what makes them tick. At Jones Homes, as sales advisors we are encouraged not only to use our diplomatic and negotiation skills but also to take the time to get to know the customer and to listen to what they want. Only then can we start to deliver what is right for them and to help them make the move into their dream house. It’s a fantastic job and a real privilege to be given the chance to play such a part in a hugely significant journey in the lives of some lovely families.” Janette added: “Jones Homes is a fantastic place to work because I can tap into the people skills I have developed after running a hotel in Bridlington for seven years and being in retail for more than two decades. Their ethos is not to chase sales targets but to treat customers as real people and to ensure we support them and provide them with the best possible house-buying experience.” Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that both Janette and Jackie agreed to join us when we offered them a job. Long service celebrated during business event at Lambcote Meadows in Maltby
A business-to-business event was held at Jones Homes’ Lambcote Meadows development in Maltby on Friday (24 November) where the long service of one of the homebuilder’s employees was also celebrated. Jones Homes Yorkshire invited representatives of businesses and trades involved in the project at Lambcote Meadows to attend the event, which was hosted across the development’s The Stratton II and The Bentley show homes, off Grange Lane. During the afternoon, Sales Advisor Lyn Kostrowski, who is based at Lambcote Meadows, was presented with a gift to mark more than 25 years with the company. Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, Jayne Swift, said: “Our business-to-business event was a great chance to get together with people we have been working with on Lambcote Meadows in Maltby. “It was good to welcome people from the wide range of trades and companies whose hard work has gone into getting the project to this stage and to thank them for their support. “And it was also the perfect opportunity to recognise Lyn’s hard work for Jones Homes Yorkshire and to congratulate her on reaching and going beyond her 25-year workplace milestone.” Lyn joined Jones Homes Yorkshire in 1996 as a full-time Sales Advisor and now works part-time based in Lambcote Meadows, when she reached her 25-year anniversary in 2021 the country was still affected by Covid restrictions so an occasion like this was not possible at that time. Lyn said: “Jones Homes has been a lovely company to work for and that is a big reason why I have stayed with them for more than 25 years. It was a fantastic surprise to receive a presentation at the business-to-business event and I’d like to thank the company very much for the gift and for celebrating my long service with them.” Construction work started on site at Lambcote Meadows in 2022 and the first homes are due to be completed ready for their new owners to move into at the end of this year. The development, which is the first phase of a planned wider scheme, will include 95 homes for private sale and five properties designated as affordable starter homes, as well as a children’s play area and public green open space. There are three, four and five-bedroom homes currently for sale at Lambcote Meadows with prices starting at £259,995. For more information, visit jones-homes.co.uk/lambcote-meadows.
Housebuyers in Thorpe Hesley offered ‘Helping Hand’ to get onto the property ladder
Customers at Jones Homes’ Wentworth View development in Thorpe Hesley can benefit from a new scheme aimed at helping housebuyers onto the property ladder. The family-owned housebuilder has launched its ‘Helping Hand’ initiative to provide tailored support to enable purchasers to overcome the obstacles they may be facing when trying to buy a house. Assistance could come in a variety of ways, including deposit top-ups and support with initial mortgage repayments or fees. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director at Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “As a family-owned business, we appreciate the pressures that many households are currently facing on their finances due to the rising cost of living and higher interest rates. “Many people may see the current economic climate as a barrier to them getting onto the property ladder so we want to do what we can to help those aspiring buyers achieve their dream of home ownership. “While it’s not unusual for housebuilders to offer specific incentives to customers, what makes ‘Helping Hand’ different is its flexibility. Rather than offering a defined one-size-fits-all solution, the support offered through the scheme can be tailored to meet the needs of each individual buyer.” The ‘Helping Hand’ scheme is available at selected Jones Homes developments, including Wentworth View in Thorpe Hesley, where a selection of three and five-bedroom homes priced from £265,995 are currently for sale. Jones Homes is building 144 homes at Wentworth View, on land off Upper Wortley Road. For more information about the homes available at Wentworth View, click here.
Sue and Allan’s new home in Burgess Hill is perfect for helping care for their grandchildren
Wanting to live nearer to their grandchildren was the main reason for retired couple Sue and Allan Paine to decide to move to Jones Homes’ Folders Grove development in Burgess Hill. The couple, who previously lived in Hove, moved to a new four-bedroom detached house at the development in July, and are now just five miles from where their daughter lives, in Bolnore Village. They’ve found their new place is just perfect for helping provide childcare for their 2 grandchildren, who are aged four and six years. Sue said: “Folders Grove is only a short drive away from where we previously lived, but it offers us much more than before. “We have a very spacious garden, which our grandchildren absolutely love being in, while we can sit and watch them play from our garden room, which is part of the house and opens into the garden. Our house is a corner plot and the garden has a unique shape which adds personality to it, and we will have flower beds and a water feature which we brought from our previous home. “We thoroughly enjoy walking around the site as it is very scenic and surrounded by greenery and there are a few ponds that you see on the walk. The grandchildren also love going round Folders Grove on their scooters.” Sue and Allan’s old place in Hove, where they’d lived for 26 years, was previously a two-bedroom bungalow they had converted into a four-bedroom home for their family. Susan said: “Since we did a complete renovation to our old property, it made us have high expectations for our new home, but it was also good to be able to move into a new home where no work was needed to be done to it.” The couple, who have been married for 48 years, found about Jones Homes online and Folders Grove was the first development they viewed. Sue said: “When we saw Folders Grove for the first time, it stood out to us. Everything was very spacious and looked appealing. The developments we saw after this one seemed much more packed together, which we were not keen on.” The couple purchased the Hartford Regent home style, which they were shown after a home they had hoped to put an offer on was reserved by another buyer. Sue said: “The sales advisor was very accommodating and offered to show us another home instead. This we were very taken with as it had a bigger garden, the garden room and bigger drive, so this worked out much better for us. “The development is situated in a quiet rural area and we can enjoy views of the scenery from our bedroom window.” There’s a choice of four-bedroom detached houses currently available to reserve at Folders Grove, with prices starting from £995,000. Jones Homes is also currently offering a Reservation Package, allowing people who reserve by 31 August, £50,000 which they could contribute towards their deposit, monthly mortgage re-payments, stamp duty, or however they choose to spend.
Mini motor racing team from Wilmslow High School impress the judges in F1 challenge
Wilmslow High School students were praised for their ‘bold’ pit display and branding when they took part in the national finals of a motor racing design competition – with support from housebuilder Jones Homes. The A-level students called their team Exhausted Racing and designed and built a miniature F1 racing car as part of the Lenovo F1 in Schools challenge. Jones Homes, which is building at five developments in Wilmslow, boosted the team’s efforts by donating £250 towards entry fees and the construction of their model racing car. Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “We sponsored the Wilmslow High School students in the early stages of the competition and so when they got into the finals we were pleased to help them out again. “The team tackled the final competition with real enthusiasm. It’s quite something to put your work in front of a panel of expert judges and answer in-depth questions about it, but the students did an excellent job. “The Lenovo F1 in Schools competition is a great challenge to take part in as it teaches the pupils about so many things that they will face during their careers including problem solving, working as a team and giving presentations.” During the project the teams design their vehicle with CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, then analyse, make, and test their vehicle. As part of the process, students are encouraged to collaborate with industry experts and make links with businesses, raising sponsorship and developing a budget. The team from Wilmslow High School qualified in March and took part in the finals on 29 and 30 June, at Leeds University. On the first day of the finals the team delivered its business and enterprise portfolio, presented its pit display, and went to a design and engineering judging session. After that the students gave a verbal presentation to show what they had learned during the competition. The judges later described the pit display as “very eye-catching and bold.” There was racing on both days. Exhausted Racing ended the first day in second on the leaderboard before eventually finishing a very creditable fifth in the overall competition. Kirsty Regan, Curriculum Team Leader Design and Technology with Computing at the school, said: “This was a fantastic achievement as they finished fifth out of 33 teams representing England, Scotland and Wales and in places three to six there was nothing in the times. “The Exhausted Racing team came away very proud of their achievements and it is a great competition to put onto their CV for university applications, especially for those applying for engineering degrees as it is well recognised. “All of this would not have been possible without the support from all the sponsors, so I thank them greatly for all their ongoing help and support.” The team will now go back to regionals in the next class up – Professional Class. “Now that they have learnt so much they are going to go again, so it is back to planning and testing ready for the next race!” said Kirsty. To find out more about the Lenovo F1 in Schools competition, visit f1inschools.co.uk. Jones Homes is building at its Bollin Park, Sunfied, Bollin View, Sanctuary Court and Sanctuary Wilmslow developments in the town. For more information, visit jones-homes.co.uk.
Moorfield Park Site Manager wins an NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ award
Jones Homes Lancashire is celebrating the success of one of its site managers who has won a prestigious industry award for the quality of his work. Chris Doolan, 34, who lives in Preston and is in charge of construction at Jones Homes’ Moorfield Park development in Poulton-le-Fylde, was over the moon when he found out that he had won his first Pride in the Job Quality Award this year. The Pride in the Job Awards are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) every year to give recognition to those who achieve the highest standards in construction. Winning a Quality Award is a sought-after honour as only 444 site managers this year were chosen from more than 8,000 across the UK. Chris has been site manager at Moorfield Park since 2018 and said: “Everyone has been working very hard as a team for the past five years to be able to achieve this. We are still working on the construction of the fourth and final phase of Moorfield Park, so to win this award before everything is finalised really means a lot to us.” Chris initially worked as a plumber after leaving school and completing a plumbing apprenticeship, making the move across into construction in 2013. He worked for another housebuilder as a trainee site manager before joining Jones Homes as a site manager at Moorfield Park. A selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes are available to reserve at Moorfield Park with prices starting from £206,995.
Suzan makes a fresh start in her new home
Suzan Gold cried tears of joy after getting the keys to her spacious new five-bedroom detached house at Jones Homes’ Folders Grove development in Burgess Hill. The 68-year-old retired interior designer and her husband Allan, 75, had lived in the same four-bedroom house in Hove for the past 27 years. But after Suzan beat breast cancer, having been diagnosed with the illness in 2020, the couple decided it was time to make a fresh start in a brand-new home where they could create more new memories together. So, they left their old 1960s property in Hove behind and moved 10 miles north to Folders Grove. The pair first heard about the development after Allan, who has a part-time job delivering parts for Mercedes, noticed a Jones Homes sales office while he was driving through Burgess Hill on his way home from work. He called in to pick up a brochure and when he and Suzan looked through it later that day, they quickly realised that Folders Grove was the place for them. Three days after visiting the show home at the development, they had reserved their new home and put their old property on the market. The couple, along with their three dogs; a Yorkshire Terrier, a Jack Russell, and a Cavapoochon, are now all enjoying life in their new home. Recalling the day they moved in, Suzan said: “When I first got the keys to my new home I cried tears of joy and had to drink a glass of champagne to calm myself.” Suzan and Allan were both very impressed by the level of service and support that they received to ensure their house-buying journey went as smoothly as possible. Suzan said: “Jane, who was our sales advisor, was so friendly and supportive to us, constantly calling up on us and making sure we were settling in. “The site team were also a big help. When we first moved in, they were at our door seeing if there was anything they could do for us and helped us in getting rid of all our boxes.” Describing what she liked most about the house, she said: “The outlook from inside is beautiful. It was designed with light woodwork, making it feel so open. Compared to this, my old home felt so dreary and dark. “The views from the house are stunning. There are fields, a vineyard and we can also see lakes in the far distance.” Since retiring, Suzan has pursued her passion for art and creates professional drawings of dogs and people. “In my old home, I used to create my art in the kitchen. Now I am turning one of my rooms in my new house into an art studio. The rooms are very bright so are ideal for me to set up my studio in.” Suzan and Allan are also enjoying their new surroundings on the edge of the beautiful South Downs. She said: “The surrounding area is full of stunning views. We take our dogs to explore parks to see all these views. Ditchling Common is one of our favourite places to go and it is only a short drive from the house.” As the couple live so close to Burgess Hill town centre, Suzan and Allan have quickly become regulars at their local restaurant Buon Appetito, even becoming friends with the owner. Although she hasn’t been given the all-clear from cancer, Suzan says she feels more healthy than she has in a long time. “Moving house has definitely had an impact on this. Everything feels fresh and new, and this has played a part in improving my health.” Less than a handful of four-bedroom detached houses remain at Folders Grove, with prices starting from £990,000. Stamp Duty of more than £40,000 will be paid on selected plots.
Support and a sense of community makes Sanctuary Wilmslow the perfect place for retired headteacher Annette
Sanctuary Wilmslow has provided the ideal setting for Annette Wroe to adjust to living on her own after 59 years of married life. The retired headteacher, 80, moved to the Jones Home development, an exclusive gated community for the over-55s, following the death of her husband David. The couple had lived in a two-bedroom cottage in Handforth for more than 20 years, but when David passed away Annette decided she needed a place that would give her extra support and security, as well as allowing her to maintain her independence. And she found exactly that at Sanctuary Wilmslow, a development of cottages and apartments for mature active adults off Coppice Way in Handforth. Annette, who moved into her new two-bedroom cottage at Sanctuary Wilmslow in March last year, said: “I started looking around 18 months after my husband passed. I was already aware that Jones Homes were building at Sanctuary Wilmslow, so I came here with my daughter on an open day to have a look around. “On this first visit, I saw they provided lots of support. From house maintenance, gardeners and a reception, it was a very secure and supportive area which was exactly what I was after. “When I first got the Keys, I knew I would have to manage a lot by myself, sorting out finances, changing addresses and organising my new home. There was a lot for me to do at first but everything is easy to run at my new home and I do enjoy being kept busy.” Since moving in, Annette has been hugely impressed by the attentiveness and responsiveness of the on-site staff. “They will help to solve any issues no matter how big or small. From the moment you move in, they are seeing if there is anything you need doing and checking you are getting settled in. “They are very willing and answer all phone calls with a can-do attitude. There is a 24-hour line available to call for any issues or emergencies which is very reassuring. Having house maintenance was one of the main things I was looking for when moving, and if I have any issues they send someone out straight away.” Annette also values the strong sense of community within the development, which has The Clubhouse, a facility including a gym, spa, sauna, residents’ lounge and function room, at its heart. “It is a very social community. The Clubhouse is a few steps from my front door so easy to get to and a good place to meet new neighbours. As I know the area I am happy to show them some of the best local walking routes.” Annette also has a very active lifestyle away from Sanctuary Wilmslow. She goes to church in nearby Cheadle every Sunday, running a mid week pre-school crèche whilst the parents attend Bible Study. She also enjoys meeting up with friends in the local Cafes and Garden Centres. She said: “Still being able to drive allows me to be social and get to places easily. However, if I do get to a point where I no longer drive there are local bus routes and a nearby railway station.” Annette’s two-bedroom cottage, built in The Osborne style, features a spacious layout on the ground floor with a lounge and open-plan kitchen-dining area. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, both with en suites, and a patio door leading onto a private balcony. However, Annette says one of her favourite features of her new home is the garden, which is smaller and much easier to maintain than the one in her old house. “At Sanctuary Wilmslow, I have a small garden that I really like. It is south facing and my balcony windows upstairs overlook it. There are on-site gardeners that come and maintain it for me. It makes it much easier for me to look after as it was already planted with evergreens to which I have added roses, an azalea and summer bedding plants.” When buying her new home, Annette chose to use Jones Homes’ Agency Assist scheme to help make moving as smooth as possible. Under the scheme, Jones Homes instructs a local estate agent to market a customer’s existing home on their behalf and pays up to £3,000 towards their estate agent fees. Annette’s old house sold within three days and within just six weeks she had moved into her new home at Sanctuary Wilmslow. “Agency Assist took a lot of the stress away from me as I am having to do some things by myself for the first time. The support I received during the process really helped me. The sales advisor I had was very communicative and assuring throughout the whole process, keeping me updated with each step of moving.” A selection of two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom cottages are currently available at Sanctuary Wilmslow, with prices starting from £389,950. Housebuilder gives pupils water bottles to mark Walk to School Week
Pupils and teachers at a Congleton school will be able to stay hydrated on their walk to school thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder. Jones Homes has supplied re-usable water bottles to all 35 children in Year 6 at Havannah Primary School to mark Walk to School Week, which takes place from Monday 15 to Friday 19 May. The developer, which also provided bottles for the Year 6 teachers, is building 232 new homes at Westlow Heath, off Manchester Road, just over a mile from the school in Malhamdale Road. Organised by the UK charity Living Streets, Walk to School Week aims to get more people walking and to improve the street environment throughout the country. A school spokesperson said: Jones Homes previously helped the school to celebrate World Book Day in March, with a £165 donation which paid for all Year 6 pupils to be given a £5 book voucher. Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “Havannah Primary School is just down the road from our development at Westlow Heath and it is lovely for us to have this special relationship with the pupils and staff there. “We think it is great that the school is embracing Walk to School Week as it has many benefits. The initiative encourages more parents to leave their cars at home, which is good for the environment and for their children’s physical and mental well-being. “We’re pleased to be supporting the school as they take part in this worthwhile initiative. We hope that our donation of these re-usable water bottles will enable the pupils to stay hydrated on their walks and encourage them to continue travelling to school on foot in the future.” For more information about Westlow Heath, visit jones-homes.co.uk/westlow-heath.
Cub scouts to take part in drawing competition to depict coronation
A housebuilder has organised a right royal drawing competition for youngsters in the 6th Congleton Cub Scouts. Jones Homes, which is building new properties at its Westlow Heath development off Manchester Road in Congleton, asked the children in the group to depict what the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6 May means to them. The winning Cub Scout, Dexter Tyrer Gibbs aged nine, was presented with an annual family pass for the National Trust. Phil Newcombe, leader of the 6th Congleton Cub Scouts, said: “We currently have 28 cubs in our group with an additional 40 members in other age sections (Beavers & Scouts), this has grown from a total group membership of nine in 2020. “Through its award scheme, cubs offers a structured approach to offering youngsters challenges that they may not come across through their normal school careers. This offers outdoor experiences and team-building opportunities that really do help build #SkillsForLife. “The competition certainly got the cubs thinking about castles and what might be contained within. As a part of the overall coronation, it will have certainly added another element to the celebrations. “The cubs were excited to find out the winner, there were quite a few members who have expressed an interest in exploring Cholmondeley castle with their own families, as a result.” Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “The coronation of King Charles on Saturday 6 May is a momentous occasion and a chance for everyone to come together in a positive manner to celebrate a truly historic event in the history of our country. “We are building new homes in Congleton and thought it would be a good idea to reach out to youngsters in the local community to get them engaged in the celebrations. “As the coronation shows, our country has a very rich history and the National Trust does an amazing job in protecting our heritage by looking after more than 500 properties, garden and nature reserves on behalf of the public. We hope this pass will give the winning Cub Scout Dexter and his family, the chance to explore some of the incredible places that we are lucky enough to have in the UK.” To find out more about the new properties being built at Westlow Heath, visit jones-homes.co.uk/westlow-heath.
Homebuilder gives £500 donation to Eaton and Hulme Walfield Rose Queen
The Rose Queen of Eaton and Hulme Walfield, based on the outskirts of Congleton, Cheshire, has received a £500 donation towards her charity fundraising drive from housebuilder Jones Homes. As part of her year in the traditional role, Isla Goodwin, 11, is on a mission to raise money for community causes and her charity of choice, Chester Zoo. So, Jones Homes, which is building properties at its nearby Westlow Heath development in Congleton, decided to give her efforts a boost with the £500 gift. Simon Whalley, Sales Director for Jones Homes North West, said: “The Rose King and Queen tradition is a lovely custom in the local area, and it makes a great focus for fundraising for good causes in the community. “We can see that Isla has been working hard to raise money and we were very happy to add to the fund. We are looking forward to seeing how Chester Zoo and other good causes will be helped by her efforts.” Isla was originally meant to take on the title in the 2020/21 period, but because of the Covid pandemic it was not possible, so her reign was postponed until 2022/23. She is hoping to raise £2,000 by the end of her year in office and, with the Jones Homes donation, she has now raised £1,600. The role of Rose Queen entails representing Eaton and Hulme Walfield at functions and attending local events throughout the year. Isla, who is being supported by Rose King Christopher Bailes, has raised hundreds of pounds through a variety of events including raffles and a Christmas Market held in the village hall. She is grateful to Jones Homes for the gift and said: “Thank you for such a generous donation!” Isla is keeping up a family tradition by taking on the role as her sister Maddie was Rose Queen in 2019. Jones Homes also gave Maddie a £500 donation towards her fundraising target, and one of her fundraisers was climbing up Mount Snowdon. Isla said: “I was Maddie’s petal thrower and enjoyed being part of the event. She raised a lot of money for good causes, and I wanted to do that too. However, I absolutely did not want to climb Snowdon again!” To find out more about the Westlow Heath development, visit jones-homes.co.uk/westlow-heath.
Housebuilder gives pupils book vouchers to mark World Book Day
A housebuilder in Congleton has proved itself to be on the same page as a local school by donating £165 in vouchers to mark World Book Day. Jones Homes has paid for a £5 book token to be given to all 33 pupils in Year 6 at Havannah Primary School in the town, as part of the book-related celebrations on Thursday 2 March. The developer is building 232 new homes at Westlow Heath, off Manchester Road, Congleton, just a short distance from the school in Malhamdale Road. Kate Naylor, a sales advisor at the development, visited the school on Friday 17 February to hand over the tokens. Clare Birdsall, Year Six Class Teacher and the school’s Literacy Coordinator said: “We are very grateful to the team at Jones Homes for this kind gesture. We greatly encourage “Reading for Pleasure” and so this opportunity can only enhance our pupil’s enjoyment of reading.” Simon Whalley, Sales Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “Havannah Primary School is only a short distance from our development at Westlow Heath and we felt it was important to reach out to the school as a means of giving something back to the local community. “World Book Day is a great national event to support because it gets a very serious message across about reading but manages to do so in a fun way. It is a day which celebrates books and reading and captures the imagination of school pupils throughout the country. “We are happy to donate this money to help children buy a book and maybe discover a love of reading that could last a lifetime. In this digital age, it is more vital than ever that we encourage children to come away from the screen and sit down and read a book.” Visit Westlow Heath for more information.
Show Home room-by-room, The Banbury at Gateford Park
Jones Homes has recently unveiled a new show home at its Gateford Park development in Gateford, Worksop. The four-bedroom Banbury show home has been designed to allow visitors to imagine themselves living in a new home here. The Banbury is one of 12 home styles being built at Gateford Park, where Jones Homes is delivering a range of four and five-bedroom home designs. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted with the styling of the Banbury show home, which has been expertly designed by interior designers, Clayton & Company. The home provides warmth and comfort, with cool tones providing freshness and energy. “The designers have done a fantastic job in creating a sophisticated yet welcoming interior, allowing potential buyers to really immerse themselves and picture living in what could be their next home. “We asked for this home to be tailored to those who were looking for ultimate style and comfort, but still wanting a modern contemporary feel. It was important to us that the home reflected an aspirational interior, yet still an achievable lifestyle.” Kitchen “A contemporary kitchen style was recommended, as the designers felt this worked best with the rest of the home. The soft light grey door fronts are simple and sleek, and the high gloss finish reflects light around the room, as do the light quartz worktops.” Dining area “Pink and gold accents really lend themselves to a luxurious, opulent style and provide a touch of class and elegance to any space, as reflected in this dining area. These were chosen to use throughout the house not only to create a cohesive flow from room to room, but also to showcase how luxury living can be achieved by simply using small amounts of accent colours throughout a home.” Living room “Cool tones evoke feelings of calm and relaxation in this living room design. We believe a living room should be a place to unwind with family and friends and be a place to calm emotions and focus thoughts. The cool dusty blue for the main paint colour is paired with a warm/cool-toned feature wallpaper to balance the space and provide a subtle impact upon entry to the room. “To keep a cohesive luxurious feel throughout the home, gold accents and neutral soft furnishings ensure the space was aspirational. The cushions on the sofa pick out the colours of the wallpaper and provide the cool side of the room with an injection of warmth.” Master bedroom “The master bedroom needed to exude luxury and glamour, whilst remaining easily replicable by buyers. The neutral/gold/pink colour palette appealed, as gold accents work excellently to provide an opulent touch. You can see how subtly they are used in the light fitting, wallpaper, chest handles, light shades, and wardrobe doors. The pink and neutral tones make the room feel warm and relaxing, and work well in a glamorous scheme. “The bespoke fluted headboard is tall enough to make a real impact. This was paired with two large chests of drawers for bedsides, which shows how large the room really is and gives it a truly grand identity.” Twin room “This bedroom was designed for twins who are around the age of five to eight years. We wanted to create something memorable and fun, whilst remaining a lovely space to rest after a long day at school. To achieve this, the designers chose a unique dog-themed hot air balloon wallpaper, which was a starting point for the colour palette in the room. Using fluted upholstered headboards to reflect clouds, and soft patterned cushions, the twin beds give a soft warm welcoming feel to the space. “To utilise the wall space, a large bespoke chalkboard displays creative doodles, leaving a lasting impression on little visitors!” Guest bedroom “The guest bedroom reflects more of a versatile palette, bringing in blues and dark brass tones in the finishing touches. A guest bedroom should appeal to many, as no two guests are the same.” Teenager’s bedroom “Our inspiration behind this bedroom was a young teenager who is fascinated with science and loves learning all things physics at school. The starting point was to select a wallpaper that really reflected the kind of sketches they may do in their notebook, and we feel the chosen design works perfectly. Floating bedsides and cordless wall lamps give the room a modern feel, alongside an upholstered headboard for comfort, which is always key.” Rosie Crane, Marketing Manager at Clayton & Company said: “Designing a Jones Home show home is always a pleasure because their homes are such a great product to work with. The site team are always fully prepared for our arrival and on hand to help in any way needed. We are delighted that Jones Homes are pleased with the end result at Gateford Park.” There is currently a selection of four, and five-bedroom homes available at Gateford Park with prices starting from £345,995 – £475,995. Former apprentice joiner aiming to carve out career as site manager
A former apprentice joiner is hoping to carve out a career as a site manager with Cheshire-based developer Jones Homes. Charlie Chorlton has been appointed as a trainee assistant site manager at the housebuilder’s Westlow Heath development in Congleton after graduating from the company’s apprenticeship scheme. The 22-year-old first joined Jones Homes North West in 2018 after being offered a place on an apprenticeship halfway though his course at college. Charlie, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, said: “I was always interested in, and good at, woodwork at school and not so taken with the academic side of things. I liked to use my hands and to get stuck into a project and create something. “I was at college in Newcastle-under-Lyme when I was offered the chance to be an apprentice joiner at Jones Homes. Some of my friends were at university but I wanted to earn as I learned and did not want to be saddled with a student debt in a few years’ time, so an apprenticeship was the perfect choice for me.” Charlie qualified as a joiner after gaining his Level 2 NVQ in site carpentry in 2021. Then he was offered a trial as a trainee assistant site manager. “I was working at a development one day when the site manager asked me if I fancied training to be an assistant site manager as he was very impressed with the way I dealt with customers,” he said. “Luckily, I have always had good communication skills and I jumped at the chance. “They put me on trial for six months and at the end of that period, offered me the position as trainee assistant site manager at Westlow Heath. I was delighted to be offered the chance to take my career in another direction. “Jones Homes is a great company to work for because they have given me this wonderful chance to improve myself and my career. It is up to me now to repay that trust by showing them that they made a wise choice in investing in me. My ambition is to knuckle down and work my way up the ranks to one day becoming a site manager.” Alex Bedson, Construction Director at Jones Homes North West, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Charlie has accepted the position as trainee assistant site manager at Westlow Heath. “He came through the apprenticeship programme with flying colours and his dedication, enthusiasm and maturity when dealing with customers identified him as a person with real potential. We will give him all the training, support and encouragement he needs to go on to forge a great career with us here at Jones Homes.”
Last few chances to buy a new home at Van Dyk Village
There are just a few homes remaining for sale at Derbyshire’s newest village, Jones Homes’ flagship Van Dyk Village. The house builder is delivering 58 new homes set around a village green and located adjacent to the Van Dyk Hotel, off the A619 between Chesterfield and Worksop. There are now only four detached homes remaining for sale on the development. This includes the five-bedroom Connaught II which is currently available to reserve and is ready to move into and the five-bedroom Knightsbridge II show home which is due to be released towards the end of 2022. The final home will be the five-bedroom Manor House, which will form a focal point within the development and is due for completion in 2023. Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “Opportunities to live in our flagship Van Dyk Village development are now becoming more limited, as homes are snapped up and a growing community puts down roots here in the Derbyshire countryside. “Since construction began, there has been a keen interest in the exclusive and distinguished range of properties being built at Van Dyk Village. The houses and central open space have been carefully considered, offering a traditional village setting surrounded by beautiful woodland and countryside. “This unique development has proven popular from the outset. Our stunning five-bedroom detached Connaught II, with an integral double garage, is ready to be a customer’s forever home today. This is a beautifully detailed property which features a luxury garden room and an impressive staircase with oak handrails and newel posts and glass infill panels. “Van Dyk Village homes have also been built with different styles and varied materials to create a picturesque street scene that is designed to appear as if it has formed over time. What’s more, the location is ideal for many buyers, opposite the Van Dyk Hotel and with quick links to the M1. “Among the final homes to be built, there will also be an exclusive Manor House – boasting 3,000 square feet of luxurious accommodation – which we expect will be ready for its new owners by summer 2023.” The five-bedroom Connaught II detached house is currently available to reserve at Van Dyk Village at £659,995. Couple downsize to enjoy life in the lap of luxury
John and Elizabeth Turner are loving their exciting new life in the lap of luxury on an exclusive gated community in Wilmslow. The couple have swapped their five-bedroom family home for a three-bedroom property at Jones Homes’ Sanctuary Wilmslow development – an innovative mature-living community. “We love it here,” said John. “There is so much to do and it is all on our doorstep. I don’t know what we did with all our time before but now we seem to have more hours in the day to do what we want without worrying about tedious things like getting the gardening done or having the windows cleaned as people take care of that for us now. “It’s time for us to put ourselves first without feeling guilty and that’s exactly what we are doing. We are really enjoying life and having lots of fun and can’t wait to show off our new home to all our family and friends.” John, 79, and Elizabeth, 78, who ran a number of their own businesses before retiring, had lived in their old family home for more than 40 years after having it built to their own specifications for £124,000 in 1978. “Both of us realised it was time to downsize as it just did not make any sense for just the two of us to continue living at the big house,” said John. “It had so much more space than we needed and the running costs, such as energy bills and the council tax, were just rising and rising so we decided to make the break. “We thought selling the house and moving would be a huge emotional wrench but we are so busy in our new life that we haven’t had time to feel like that. We feel so excited about the future that we haven’t got time to dwell on the past.” The couple sold their old home for £1,135,000 in October 2021 and started to look for a new home. John said: “Jones Homes has a very good reputation for building top-quality houses so when we realised they were building at Sanctuary Wilmslow about a mile away from our old home, we knew we had to go and have a look as we wanted to stay in the area to be close to family and friends. We looked inside three properties at the site and liked the look of one of them.” They reserved the three-bedroom Wentworth in January and moved into their new £550,000 home in March. “The size of the house is ideal for us because it has everything we need and nothing that we don’t need,” said John. “The two large bedrooms upstairs both have en suite facilities, which is very convenient if we have people to stay over at all. “There is a third bedroom downstairs but we use this as a second lounge to increase the entertaining area because we like to have people round. The rear courtyard will be brilliant in summer and we intend to make the best of that outside space by getting the barbecue out whenever the weather permits. “All in all, the specification on the house is fantastic. The fixtures and fittings, from the bathroom taps to the kitchen worktops to the dishwasher, are brilliant. I know quality when I see it and this house is quality.” John said that he and Elizabeth are now spoilt for choice when deciding what to do. “We live right on the edge of open countryside here, so we can just stroll out into the surrounding fields and there are some fabulous walks with stunning views,” he said. “It is lovely to be able to explore that when we choose to. “One of the real bonuses of living here is that, as part of our community fees, we have exclusive access to the many facilities at The Clubhouse. It’s an amazing place which has everything. “There’s a gym, a jacuzzi, a steam room, a sauna, a nail bar, a hair salon, a health spa, and two residents’ lounges where you can hold a birthday party or family event. I regularly use the walking machine and rowing machine in the gym while Elizabeth is making plans to use the hair salon. Elizabeth is a keen bridge player and is delighted they are forming a bridge club which will meet and play at The Clubhouse. “The place also has a terrace on the ground floor outside and a large balcony on the first floor where you can meet friends and neighbours over a tea or coffee. It’s very popular and is a real focus for the development. We have got to know lots of our neighbours there.” John said the feeling of security that living on a gated community gives is important to them. “We have an apartment in Majorca and love going out there to get some sun,” he said. “When we lived in the big house and went away, particularly when we went abroad, we worried about being burgled. It did happen once and was a horrible experience. “Living at Sanctuary Wilmslow allows us to just lock the front door and not have to worry as everything is totally secure and monitored 24 hours a day. It is priceless to have that peace of mind which applies not just when we go away but when we close our front door at night too.” John said he was happy to sing the praises of Jones Homes and Sanctuary Wilmslow. “I cannot recommend Jones Homes too highly,” he said. “They were first-class in every respect and continue to be so. Nothing was too much trouble for the sales team and the site team and that level of service is very much appreciated. “The development itself looks great and the wide-open spaces and well-built homes give it a lovely village feel. The pond with a fountain is a lovely touch and represents the attention to detail that Jones Homes is renowned for. “We are so happy with the move that we have made to Sanctuary Wilmslow as it is the perfect place for us. We wish we had done it sooner!” There is currently a selection of three-bedroom cottages available to reserve at Sanctuary Wilmslow with prices starting at £430,000. Construction passes key milestone at Sanctuary Last Drop Village in Bolton
Building work is progressing well at Sanctuary Last Drop Village in Bromley Cross near Bolton, where Jones Homes has now completed three-quarters of the new properties. The developer is building 41 new homes at the exclusive gated community aimed at delivering a luxurious lifestyle for the over 55s, with construction now finished on 31 properties. So far, 28 of the new homes, a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom cottages, have been sold. The pioneering development is one of the first in this country to feature the Sanctuary concept of active adult living championed by Jones Homes in Florida. Simon Whalley, Sales Director for Jones Homes North West, said: “Construction at Sanctuary Last Drop Village is progressing nicely and a fantastic new community is taking shape. “It would appear that the word is getting out about this new way of living for people over the age of 55. We have sold more than two-thirds of the homes here and last month alone six properties were snapped up. “The vast majority of the buyers are people from the local area looking to slow down and to enjoy a better way of life. They are older couples, and single people, who have sold a larger property in the area and are looking to downsize and to reduce the stress in their daily lives. We have sold to purchasers from Bolton, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. “They are being drawn to this very special development where their needs are being put first. All the two-bedroom cottages, except for the showhome, have been sold and there are no four-bedroom cottages for sale. “Buyers know that here they can relax and really stop to smell the roses, perhaps for the first time in their lives. They appreciate the security and peace of mind provided by living in a gated community where they can have their garden tended to and their windows cleaned as part of the package of services offered on site. “Free from these chores, they can live an easier life and take full advantage of the discounts offered at the fabulous Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa next door. Residents can meet friends over a relaxing drink in the lounge or patio area or spend time in the gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room or spa. “There is still time to tap into the good life at this pioneering development but anyone interested in moving here should contact our sales team as soon as they can.” A selection of one-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom cottages are currently available for purchase, including some which are ready to move into straight away. Prices start from £169,950. To find out more about the development, visit Sanctuary Last Drop Village.
Couple buy ideal home after recommendation from neighbour
Rotherham couple Tim and Kerry Victor weren’t even looking for a new home. Yet within days of receiving a visit from their next-door neighbours, the couple had reserved a new four-bedroom detached house at Jones Homes’ Beaumont Grange development in nearby Treeton. The neighbours had popped round with a leaflet about Beaumont Grange, and after seeing the brochure for the development, Tim, 36, and Kerry, 33, instantly fell in love with the layout of the Hollin home style. The couple and their seven-year-old son Theo, moved into their new home at the end of September. Tim said: “Although we had done a bit of house hunting, Kerry and I could never find a home that had everything we wanted, so moving house wasn’t really on the agenda. “But when we described our ideal home to our neighbours, they recommended Beaumont Grange – where they themselves were moving to – and brought a leaflet round for us to look at. “We were instantly won over by the Hollin home style and within a few days had reserved the house. We can’t thank them enough for the recommendation.” With a dedicated downstairs study and four upstairs bedrooms, the Hollin home style ticked every box for the couple – and meant they didn’t need to sacrifice one of their bedrooms for homeworking space. Tim said: “One of the main reasons we picked this house was for the dedicated study. As I work from home, it was my priority to have a separate study area and not have to use one of our bedrooms as an office – which is what I had to do in our last house. “Now that we have that extra bedroom back, Kerry has been able to create her own walk-in wardrobe which she’s really pleased with.” Tim, a resource manager for IT company, and Kerry, a primary school teacher, used Jones Homes’ Agency Assist scheme to help sell their four-bedroom in Waverley, about three miles away. Tim added: “Our home ended up selling within a month and a half thanks to Agency Assist – it’s a great tool that I would definitely recommend using.” With Agency Assist, Jones Homes instructs an independent estate agent who will secure a realistic valuation on a customer’s home, and work with them to progress the sale. Jones Homes also pay the estate agency fees up to a maximum of £3,000. Now having lived at Beaumont Grange for almost six months, Tim and Kerry are delighted with their new home. Tim said: “Our last two houses have also been new-builds; we love the fact no-one else has lived in them before and that we can put our own mark on them. “Everything about this house is better than our last. While our previous kitchen was small and cramped, we now have an open-plan space with a breakfast bar and dining table. It’s much more of a sociable place and has encouraged us to spend more quality time together as a family. “I also like having a detached garage, which I’ve been using to store all my gym equipment. With both an office and gym at home, I’m all sorted. “Theo’s favourite part of the new house has to be his bedroom. It’s bigger than his last and we’ve been able to mount a television to the wall so that he can play on his Xbox; it’s difficult to get him out of there now!” The couple also love the development itself and its quaint village location.
Couple make a fresh start with new home 250 miles away
Young couple Rosie and Luke Crumley have made a fresh start in Kent after moving 250 miles away from their home in Cornwall. The pair decided to uproot from Bude, Cornwall, and purchase their first house together at Jones Homes’ Westwood Park development in Lenham, Kent, near where Luke grew up. Rosie, a 27-year-old self-employed dressmaker, and Luke, a 33-year-old software engineer, moved to their new four-bedroom detached house so they could be closer to family and friends in Maidstone. Rosie said: “A lot of our friends live in Kent and Luke has his whole family here, so we wanted to move to be closer to them. I’m sad that I’m not living close to my parents and sister anymore, but we can visit Bude whenever we like – we’ve been back once already!” Rosie and Luke, who met at a jive club and have been together for seven years, had been looking to buy their first home as a couple for a while. Rosie commented: “We previously lived at my house in Bude but were keen to buy a property together. We probably looked at over 20 different homes, both in Cornwall and Kent, but nothing ticked all our boxes like this one at Westwood Park.” The couple ended up purchasing the Bayswater home style after discovering it on Rightmove. They reserved the home straight after viewing it in January this year and moved in just under six weeks later. Rosie, who handcrafts and sells skirts for her company Rosie’s Handmade Originals, says the large bedrooms were the main selling factor. She said: “I needed a large space to spread out all my sewing materials and Luke needed an office space as he works from home permanently, so to have four large bedrooms was perfect. “The development itself also won us over. Unlike other new-build estates, the houses aren’t crammed in together at Westwood Park and each home is spaced out with large driveways. We weren’t necessarily going to buy new but I’m glad we did.” Now having settled in, the pair are enjoying the differences between their new home and their previous property in Bude. Rosie said: “We had no garage or garden before, so it’s great having both of these now. The house is situated on the corner of the development so we’re lucky enough to have a really good-sized garden. I love gardening and have enjoyed getting outside in the sunshine to make a start on it. “Luke’s turned the downstairs office into an Xbox room which he’s enjoying a lot, but the open-plan kitchen and dining space has to be our favourite part of the house. We previously had a separate dining room, but open-plan is definitely our preference as it flows better and is ideal for hosting. “We also prefer the location here. Bude is great but there’s not a lot going on there, and as young people, we want to be out and about doing things. “We’ve started exploring the village which is really pretty and everyone we’ve met has been friendly. I’ve particularly enjoyed going to the country market each month which has a great range of stalls. We’re also near to the A20 which is handy for getting around, especially to Maidstone and Ashford.” The couple are enjoying being closer to friends and have invited them round to see the new house. Rosie said: “The main thing everyone says when they visit is how much they love the garden and open-plan kitchen. “Buying with Jones Homes has been an easy process and we can’t fault the customer service at all. We are enjoying this fresh start in our lives and are excited to continue making the home our own – I can definitely see us staying here a long time.” You can view the current availability at Westwood Park here.
Meet the friendly faces creating Derbyshire’s newest village near Chesterfield
Jones Homes has introduced a new team to lead the creation of Derbyshire’s newest village. Site manager Liam Kieswetter and sales advisor Rebecca Simmons are working together to ensure Van Dyk Village, off the A619 between Bolsover and Clowne, becomes a model for new village design. The village of 58 homes is located on the former Van Dyk garden centre site. The land is thought to have been home to agricultural workers as far back as Roman times and from the 18th century it housed staff from Southgate House, now the Van Dyk Hotel. Today the hotel is thriving, its recent regeneration funded by the sale of the land opposite to create Van Dyk Village. Liam, 25, is tasked with overseeing all aspects of the building of the new village. He said: “Building new homes is a huge responsibility and even more so when the brief is to deliver a new village. “The homes have been designed to appear as though they have been built over a long period of time, with different styles in different areas of the site. There will be a grand Manor House viewable from the site entrance and we are creating a village green as a focal point. “The varying styles of architecture, along with Jones Homes’ exacting designs, mean this is a much more challenging build process and precision is key. There are large, spacious interiors with high ceilings, as well as oak doors and staircases. “We take our time and take care to ensure every detail is correct. As a site manager, it is especially satisfying to have that opportunity.” Liam joined Jones Homes three years ago and has been site manager at Van Dyk Village since the spring. He said: “I have a lot of interaction with our customers as I am their main point of contact once they have moved in. I really enjoy this aspect of the job as I get to ensure buyers have a trouble-free experience and am at hand if they need anything. “I meet with buyers several times before they move in to show them what stage we are at with construction, taking them through the drawings and making sure they are 100 per cent happy.” Rebecca, 39, is the public face of the development, leading the sales operation. With over nine years’ experience in the housing industry, she joined Jones Homes five months ago. She said: “I have loved working at Van Dyk Village for the last few months. I believe in Jones Homes’ product which makes my job so much easier, as I get to sell pristine houses which truly have the wow factor. “Visitors to the village are blown away by the stunning five-bedroom show home and high-quality properties on offer – all of which are part of our distinguished Signature Collection. “We take our customers on a journey which is magical to witness, involving them from the beginning with the progress of the build, right up until handing over the keys on the exciting move-in day. “Liam and I inspect the houses once they are complete to ensure they are in a perfect state to hand over to buyers. We put ourselves in the shoes of the customer, asking ourselves if we would be happy with the property and be proud to live in it – and we don’t settle for anything less.” With the first phase of homes now occupied, Van Dyk Village is really starting to feel like a village. Rebecca said: “It’s been so lovely watching a close community start to form here. The residents get along so well – they go to the gin bar together at the Van Dyk Hotel at the weekend and stay in contact regularly via their WhatsApp group chat.” There is currently a selection of five-bedroom homes available to purchase at Van Dyk Village, with prices starting from £629,995. Rebecca is happy to show people around the new development and appointments are available from Wednesday to Monday. To get in touch, call 01246 938387 or contact the team at Van Dyk Village.
A walk with the dog leads to new way of life
It’s a new way of life one Bolton resident It was thanks to the need to exercise her canine chum Toby, that Christine spotted a sign advertising homes for sale at Jones Homes’ Last Drop Village in Bromley Cross. She’s now living a stress-free life, after down-sizing from a five-bedroom house to a two-bedroom home within this exclusive gated community made for the active over 55’s. Christine’s Story Toby has been Christine’s constant companion since she got him as a puppy six years ago, and has helped keep her going after her beloved husband David died last year. “I only lived a mile away so knew about the development but had never considered it as a place to move to,” said Christine, 69. “When I saw the sign, it got me thinking and as the development was right next to the field we were in, I walked onto the site there and then with Toby. I went into the sales office and made an appointment to go back at a later date to talk about what they had to offer in the way of houses that might suit me.” “One of the first things that struck me was that it was gated community which immediately gives you a greater sense of security,” she said. “This means that when I go away on holiday, I will not have the nagging worry at the back of my mind about whether the house is safe. “There is a team on site who will look after your house when you are away which gives great peace of mind. It’s nice to know that and it’s one less thing to have to worry about.” Christine put her five-bedroom home on the market and reserved a two-bedroom Osborne home at Last Drop Village. “My husband and I had lived in the old house for 35 years but, after he died, there was just no need for me to be living in such a large house on my own. “I had been keeping an eye out for a bungalow but then Last Drop Village became the focus. I reserved an Osborne – a lovely two-bedroom cottage. The sale of my house fell through twice but the team at Jones Homes stuck with me and made sure that I did not lose the cottage. It was a very stressful time and to have that reassurance from them was very much appreciated.” Christine and Toby today “I absolutely love it,” said Christine, a former English teacher. “The houses are all very well-built and mine has a real feeling of space and light inside. “The open-plan kitchen/dining room design downstairs is perfect for me. The other day I had friends round and they were able to sit and chat with me as I prepared the food. I can see me spending a lot of time in there. “There is so much about this new house that suits me. There are two large bedrooms upstairs with en suites. The master bedroom, which is bigger than the one at my old house, has patio doors out onto a balcony where I have put a table and chairs. “The balcony overlooks the courtyard which is a fabulous space to relax and spend some time. The paved area is bordered by flowers and there is small lawn which is a hit with Toby.” It’s a lifestyle choice at Last Drop Village Residents can access facilities at the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa at a discounted rate. There’s a restaurant, pub, swimming pool, gym, spa and shops. “The facilities are impressive – I love the card shop and there is a nice little café where I have popped in for coffee and cake. “The neighbours I have met are friendly and everyone I meet has time to stop and chat. People like Toby and being able to have him live with me was obviously essential. They welcome well-behaved pets here which is good to see. “What is lovely is that I can walk Toby on the development or we can just stroll off into the fields next door. I have so much more time on my hands now but I’m spoiled for choice about what to do each day.” The Jones Homes sales team are on hand to help “They were absolutely marvellous,” she said. “Linda, in particular, was fantastic. She spent a lot of time with me. I was able to choose kitchen tiles, wardrobes and carpets and she was very patient. She also made sure I understood the whole process and explained it all step by step. “They are a great team and it is reassuring to know that they are still only a phone call away if I need them in any capacity.” For more information about homes at Last Drop Village in Bromley Cross, call 01204 859003 or visit jones-homes.co.uk/sanctuary-last-drop-village
Downsizer Barbara finds her forever home at Simpson Park
When maintaining her garden started to feel like a full-time job, Barbara Clements knew it was time to downsize. The 62-year-old retired shop worker wanted to find a more manageable home that would allow her to enjoy her time outdoors without spending every second of it gardening. And Barbara found exactly what she was looking for at Jones Homes’ Simpson Park development off Scrooby Road in Harworth, the town she has lived in for 50 years. Along with her son Andrew, 27, she downsized from her three-bedroom semi-detached home of more than 30 years into a new house at Simpson Park last November. Barbara said: “I was thinking about moving for a while. I needed a change of space, and I was fed up with all of the garden maintenance. I couldn’t keep up with it all. “I enjoy gardening, but there were lots of trees and a large vegetable plot that is bigger than my new garden! It was a chore to keep on top of it all. “Last summer, I decided it was time to find somewhere that I could grow old in; somewhere that doesn’t need constant attention, so that I could go out with my friends and family and go on holiday. I was rattling around that old house; this is much more suitably sized for my needs. “Simpson Park was one of the first places that I visited when I started looking for a new home. I instantly fell in love with it. It ticked all of the right boxes, and from the minute I walked into the show home, I just knew it was what I wanted. I could picture myself living here. “Unfortunately, none of the homes were going to be ready until February this year, and I wanted to move quicker than that. I started looking around older homes in the town, but nothing felt right. “Someone had already purchased this home and had chosen all of the interior colours, tiles and flooring, but then pulled out. Luckily, all of their choices were very neutral, so when this home went back on the market, with an earlier move-in date, everything fell into place.” Barbara and Andrew, a self-employed personal trainer, have moved into The Birch, a semi-detached home with a spacious living room, open-plan kitchen and dining room with French doors that lead into the rear garden, and three bedrooms upstairs. Barbara said: “This home is much more suited to me and with a much more manageable garden. I’m increasing the size of the patio so that I can enjoy being in the garden while not having to look after it all of the time. “I love that the kitchen and dining room is a sociable space, and the flexibility of the spare room. Right now, Andrew is using it as his study while he’s working from home, but over time we’ll probably turn it into a bedroom for when my grandchildren can come to visit.” Another reason that Barbara fell in love with Simpson Park is its location. Not only is it in the town that she loves, but it’s also very close to all of the amenities that she’ll need as she grows older. “I hope that this will be my forever home,” said Barbara. “It’s in a prime location and is so much easier to manage. “It’s right next to Asda and only down the road from Aldi. There are also lots of independent shops along Scrooby Road, and the weekly market is just on the other side of the development at the town hall. “There is a lovely community forming here. Simpson Park is full of young families, which makes me feel younger too. It’s lovely to hear the children playing in the street. “The purchasing process was a bit of a rush, but Jones Homes handled it very well, and we were able to sort things out. Within two days of moving in, we were fully unpacked and the house already felt like home. “I would tell anyone who is considering downsizing to do it – there are so many benefits, and I have so much more time to enjoy my life, without having to worry about the garden!” There are just three homes remaining for sale at Simpson Park, including the three-bedroom former Baycliffe show home, priced at £249,995, with all fixtures and fittings included. There are also two Davenham homes available to purchase at the development. The four-bedroom properties are priced from £286,995. You can view more information about the remaining homes at Simpson Park here.

It is an ideal space for entertaining family and friends alike. “It is also worth mentioning that downstairs conveniently features a utility room and cloakroom.” Master bedroom “Upstairs, in the large master bedroom, we’ve aimed for a hotel chic level of luxury. A mix of textured neutral colours and hints of gold come together nicely from the feature wallpaper and furniture. This, together with the crisp white bedding, forms a sumptuous ambiance. “The bedroom, along with bedroom two, features its own en-suite shower room, for that added touch of luxury and privacy.” Bedroom two “In contrast, bedroom two is fitted with darker-toned furniture, though it is still just as extravagant. “The dark wood bedside tables sit well against the textured gold flex wallpaper and the deep blue cushions to create an elegant yet calming effect. The mirror-fronted wardrobe also means there is ample space for storage and reflects the light into the room.” Bedroom three “Visualised as a guest bedroom, bedroom three features a blend of pastel greens and creams to give a peaceful, neutral tone. “We’ve ensured this room remains classy with not too much going on, to avoid detracting from the lovely space it offers – although the quirky light and wall-mounted bedside table indeed add a contemporary touch.” Bedroom four “Though still relatively neutral in colour, bedroom four was designed with a young adult in mind. We included the striped bedding and yellow cushions as a subtle gesture towards this. “With the soft cloud-effect feature wallpaper, we aimed to create a calm and welcoming ambience that might appeal to a student seeking comfort after a term away from home at university. Bedroom five “The fifth and final bedroom was styled for a young child, with the toy rabbit on the wall and the floating shelves stocked with children’s books. “This pastel-coloured room is playful and offers plenty of space for bedroom essentials. Here we’ve used a single bed to give ample space for playtime as well as night-time reading on the rocking chair.” For more information, call 07834 620974 or contact the team at Van Dyk Village.

Working from home allows family to enjoy a new rural lifestyle in Rufford Village
. The couple, along with their two sons, six-year-old Noah and three-year-old Theo, hadn’t been thinking of moving, but stumbled across their dream rural destination at Jones Homes’ Hesketh Reach development in Rufford – somewhere they already enjoyed family walks. The family of four weren’t unhappy with their three-bedroom house in Maghull, Sefton, but Celine said the start of remote working last year meant they were able to consider moving somewhere more rural, without having to worry about a long commute. Celine said: “If it wasn’t for lockdown, we probably wouldn’t have moved, as Rufford is quite far from where Steven and I work. But as we’re both working from home now and in the future – at least for a couple of days each week – there was nothing stopping us!” Celine, 36, and Steven, 37, ended up moving into a four-bedroom detached Hollin home at the end of October with their two sons. This came after a whirlwind of a few months, beginning last March, when Celine stumbled across Hesketh Reach on Rightmove, and fell in love with its location. Celine said: “We weren’t even thinking of moving at the time, but after coming across this development, and then as time went on, realising that we wouldn’t have to worry about commuting, we thought: why not? “We knew the area well as we used to come to Rufford on our family walks, and we’ve always been keen to live somewhere closer to the countryside. So, we knew this development and home style would suit our lifestyle perfectly.” Surrounded by picturesque farmland and on the doorstep of Rufford Canal, Hesketh Reach offers the perfect rural location for the Hourihans. Celine commented: “The difference in surroundings from our last home is outstanding – it’s so much more tranquil. I don’t even miss our old place, which is very telling. “Hesketh Reach is a wonderful base for our family walks. A particular favourite of ours is Mere Sands Wood, which is now only a five-minute walk away. “We’re also really close to Noah’s primary school and Theo’s nursery, as well as within a five-minute drive of Burscough, which has all the amenities you need.” The family waited for lockdown restrictions to ease before they visited the Hollin show home at Jones Homes’ Stonecross Meadows development in Kendal. The Hollin home style ticked all the right boxes for the Hourihans. Celine said: “Seeing the Hollin show home at the start of June confirmed to us that we wanted to live in one, as we loved the home style just as much as the location. “We put our house up for sale a couple of days later and it sold within five days. I look back and think it was meant to be! “The house suits our lifestyle perfectly. The kitchen diner is a lovely space for entertaining and the trifold doors which lead out into the garden will be fantastic during the summer. “Even though we weren’t actively looking to move, it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.” When Celine’s not working her part-time administration job at Rathbones – an investment management company – she’s busy doing all things interior design. Celine showcases her talent for interior design on her Instagram page – home_at_hesketh_reach – in which she has amassed over 2,000 followers. She said: “Styling the rooms and sharing it on Instagram is one of my favourite hobbies. Having a blank canvas that I could put my own stamp on was one of the reasons we wanted a new build this time round. It’s been great not having to refurbish anything – I’ve been able to focus all my efforts on styling it instead. “The next thing on my list is to turn the study into a TV hang-out room for the children. It’s going to put such a big smile on their faces – I can’t wait.” Celine praised the customer service she received from sales advisor, Louise, and site manager, Ian. She said: “Louise and Ian were amazing from start to finish – we class them as our friends now. I can’t recommend buying with Jones Homes enough.” There is currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available at Hesketh Reach, with prices starting from £279,995.
A welcome gift for homebuyers – Bank of England cuts interest rates
If you’ve been dreaming of a new home but felt the timing wasn’t quite right, today’s news might just be the sign you’ve been waiting for. In a move widely seen as an early Christmas present for homebuyers, whether new or existing, the Bank of England has today announced a cut to its base interest rate. For the first time in nearly three years, the rate now sits at 3.75%, reduced from 4%. This isn't just a headline for economists; it's a real, tangible shift that could make your plans for a new build home in 2026 more affordable. The Bank of England’s decision After months of careful monitoring, the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted by a narrow margin to reduce the cost of borrowing. This marks the fourth cut of the year and the sixth since August 2024. The driving force behind the decision is a faster-than-expected drop in inflation, which has now fallen to 3.2%. While this is still above the Bank’s 2% target, Governor Andrew Bailey stated that inflation has fallen “a long way” from its peak and is expected to near their target by the middle of next year. What does this mean for mortgages? For anyone considering a move, this is where the news gets personal. The Bank of England’s base rate directly influences the rates that are offered by mortgage lenders. A cut means borrowing becomes cheaper, which translates into more manageable monthly payments for those looking to buy a new home. To put it in perspective, in an interview with the BBC, financial expert Martin Lewis explained that a 0.25 percentage point drop could mean a saving of roughly £15 per month for every £100,000 of a repayment mortgage. Over the course of a year, that saving adds up. For many months, many prospective buyers have been in a state of limbo, uncertain about their personal finances and, in turn, carefully considering major decisions, such as buying a new home. Today’s cut is a powerful signal that could give buyers the motivation to consider their next step. This newfound confidence is crucial. The stability of knowing that rates are on a gradual downward path, coupled with the immediate benefit of more attractive mortgage deals, provides a solid foundation for planning your next move. We invite you to explore our range of new build homes at our developments across the UK. Our Sales Advisors are on hand to guide you through the process and help you discover your new Jones home.

New Build homes save home owners £3118 a year in energy bills
In recent years, there has been a significant push towards energy-efficient homes as a way to reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills for homeowners. One way this is being achieved is by ensuring new build homes are designed to be more energy-efficient than their older counterparts. In March 2023 the Home Builders Federation announced that the owners of new build houses could save £3118 a year on energy bills compared to owners of older homes. In this post, we will briefly explore some of the ways in which new build homes are more energy-efficient than older homes. Better Insulation One of the most significant improvements in new build homes is the provision of insulation. Older homes often have inadequate insulation, resulting in heat loss during the winter and heat gain during the summer. New build homes, however, can include more modern and higher performance insulation materials and installation techniques. This helps to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year, reducing the need for heating and cooling. High-performance Windows New build homes are also constructed with high-performance windows that are more energy efficient than older windows. These windows are made of materials that are better insulators and have a higher energy efficiency rating. Will slimmer frames and bay window designs also allow more natural light into the home, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. Air-tight Building Envelopes New build homes are constructed with an air-tight building envelope. This means that the home is sealed from outside air leaks, which can lead to energy loss. The building envelope includes the walls, roof, and foundation, and is designed to prevent air leaks and drafts. Each new build home must undergo and pass an air pressure test, also known as air tightness testing. This is the process of measuring the amount of air leakage from a building through uncontrolled ventilation. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature inside the home and also reduces the need for heating and cooling. Energy-efficient Appliances and Lighting New build homes often come with energy-efficient appliances and lighting as standard. These appliances and lighting fixtures use less energy than their older counterparts, helping to reduce energy bills and carbon emissions. Energy-efficient appliances include refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers, while energy-efficient lighting fixtures include LED bulbs and smart lighting systems. Renewable Energy Sources Many new build homes are designed to incorporate renewable energy sources, such as solar panels where suitable, and the inclusion of electric vehicle charging points. The government has announced that by 2025, all new homes will be banned from installing gas and oil boilers and will instead be heated by low-carbon alternatives. The ban is part of a UK action plan to reach carbon net zero by 2050. These renewable energy sources can help to reduce energy bills and carbon emissions even further, making new build homes even more energy-efficient. New build homes are more energy-efficient than older homes thanks to improvements in insulation, high-performance windows, air-tight building envelopes, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, and the incorporation of renewable energy sources. These features not only help to reduce energy bills but also contribute to a more sustainable future by reducing carbon emissions. If you’re looking to buy a new home, investing in an energy-efficient new build is an excellent choice for both your wallet and the planet.
How New Build Conveyancing Works
When buying a new home, the conveyancing process can be a cause of initial concern for some as it may be unfamiliar. If you buy from another individual, you have a solicitor, the seller will also have a solicitor, and the two act on behalf of their client and liaise with each other throughout the sale. Even when buying a new home from a developer, the new build conveyancing process is very similar. The Importance of a Specialist New Build Conveyancing Solicitor With any legal transaction, you should ensure that your advocate has the skill and experience needed to act on your behalf. There are subtle differences when buying a new build as opposed to from another individual. it would be wise to ensure the person you instruct has least some experience of this form of property purchase. We work with a panel of solicitors that we often recommend to our purchasers, as they are familiar with our developments and can answer queries promptly ensuring the buying process runs quickly and smoothly. Specific Factors for New Build Homes A new build has some clear differences compared to other properties and so due consideration must be given to these during the conveyancing procedure. One thing to factor in is the building completion date as you may be buying a property that is not yet finished, this may also impact your mortgage offer. Most mortgage offers are valid for six months, but if needed you may be able to apply for an extension. Alternatively, specialist lenders are available who will offer mortgages that have a longer expiry period. We are able to offer the services of an Independent Financial Adviser who is familiar with the mortgage requirements for new build homes. Ensuring Smooth Conveyancing What any buyer truly wants from the conveyancing process is for it to go smoothly and to be stress-free. With a new build home, this should actually be easier to achieve. There is a lot more certainty, or there can be, as there is no upward chain, and of course, a developer such as Jones Homes and the solicitor acting on our behalf are both very experienced in the home-selling process. Our solicitor will liaise with your appointed solicitor to arrange contracts and work towards an exchange. To ease the process, for both you and your solicitor, we have a number of steps in place. These include: We provide detailed information about the property to be sold. This contains, in writing, much of the information your solicitor would need to know, thus making the process quicker and more transparent. Reliable information about the NHBC Build Mark Cover is provided. We provide contacts who can answer all queries whether from you or your solicitor, this is available throughout the buying process. Information is provided regularly about the structural completion of the property. Once a purchase legal completion date is agreed we will ensure that the property is ready, that the transfer of property can take place, and that you will receive a demonstration relating to use of the property – for instance how your new appliances or heating work. Information will be provided that gives clear details of the two-year Jones Homes guarantee and the after-sales service you can expect from us Documentation will be provided relating to the Consumer Code for Home Builders – a series of standards we adopt in our work. Buying a New Build With Confidence As our home is often our largest investment, having confidence in your developer is very important. Jones Homes are a family business that has been building new homes since 1959. We are an HBF 5-star rated builder for customer recommendations. The highest rating possible, meaning a minimum of 90% of customers independently surveyed have said they would recommend Jones Homes to a friend. Please do also contact us with any queries relating to the new build conveyancing and home buying process. If you visit any development, you can also arrange to speak to our advisors there who will be happy to provide details and answer any queries.
How to create a lighting scheme for your new home
When designing your new home, one important consideration is choosing the right light fittings. A lighting scheme can be an integral part of your home’s overall style and functionality, so it’s essential to select the right fittings to meet your requirements. Here are some tips on how to choose the best light fittings for your new home: What is the room’s purpose? The first thing to consider when selecting light fittings is the purpose of the room. Is it a bedroom, kitchen, or living room? Different rooms have different lighting requirements. For example, a bedroom should have a warm and relaxing atmosphere, while a kitchen requires brighter and more practical lighting. Which is why at Jones homes we include LED downlights and under-cupboard task lighting in our kitchens as standard. Consider the room’s size The size of the room is another crucial factor when selecting light fittings. A large room will need more lighting than a smaller one, while a small room may require more strategically placed lighting to create the illusion of space. Additionally, the ceiling height will also play a role in determining the type of fitting to choose. Some of our larger home styles at Jones Homes, are designed with additional ceiling height to the ground floor meaning these rooms can accommodate a larger feature light fitting. Choose the right type of fitting There are several types of light fittings to choose from, including pendant lights, chandeliers, wall lights, and recessed lighting. Pendant lights and chandeliers are ideal for larger rooms, while wall lights are perfect for creating a cosy atmosphere in smaller spaces. Recessed lighting is great for modern and minimalist interior designs. Select the right colour temperature The colour temperature of a light bulb determines the ambiance and mood of the room. A warm, yellowish light is suitable for creating a relaxing and comfortable environment, ideal for a living room or bedroom. While a cool, blueish light is best for stimulating productivity and alertness. LED lights are available in a wide range of colour temperatures to suit any mood and style. A good tip is to keep a written record of the type and colour of bulbs used in each of your rooms. This will be really useful when it comes to be time to buy replacement bulbs (lamps) and helps avoid accidently buying and installing different shades within the same room. Consider energy efficiency Energy-efficient light fittings can help reduce your electricity bills while minimizing your carbon footprint. LED lights are the most energy-efficient option, using up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs. These can also be used in any additional decorative lamps you may choose to buy. Don’t forget about style Finally, it’s essential to consider the overall style of your home when selecting a lighting scheme. The fittings should complement your existing décor and add to the overall aesthetic. If your home has a traditional design, a chandelier or pendant light might be an excellent choice. For a modern and minimalist home, recessed lighting or sleek and simple fixtures might work well.
Are quartz worktops a good choice?
Kitchen worktops are one of the most important elements of any kitchen, as they need to be functional and aesthetically pleasing in a space used for food preparation and socialising. There are many different materials available for worktops, but one of the most popular luxury options is solid quartz. But are quartz worktops good? In this short article, we’ll explore the benefits of these worktops, and why they might be the perfect choice for your kitchen. Durability Solid quartz worktops are incredibly durable, making them an ideal choice for hardworking kitchens. Quartz is one of the hardest materials on the planet, and when it’s engineered into a worktop, it becomes even tougher, being resistant to scratches, stains, and heat. Whilst they may cost more than laminate worktops for example, their extended lifespan can make them a good value and practical option. Low Maintenance Solid quartz worktops are incredibly easy to maintain, which is great news for busy homeowners. Unlike some other materials, such as wood or granite, quartz doesn’t need to be sealed, polished, or reconditioned. Simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, and your worktop will look as good as new. Hygienic Solid quartz worktops are non-porous, which means they don’t absorb liquids, bacteria, or other contaminants. This makes them an ideal choice for food preparation areas, as they’re incredibly hygienic and easy to keep clean. Aesthetic Appeal Solid quartz worktops are available in a wide range of colours and patterns, making it easy to find a style that suits your kitchen. The finish on a quartz worktop is often considered to be more consistent and predictable when compared to the level of variation that can be found in marble and granite alternatives. Whether you’re looking for a sleek, modern look or a more traditional feel, there’s a quartz worktop that will fit the bill. Our sales centres have a range of colours and patterns on display to help you select from our range. Please check with our sales advisors if quartz worktops are included or available as an upgraded option. Resistant to Stains Another great benefit of solid quartz worktops is that they’re resistant to stains. Unlike some other materials, such as granite or marble, quartz doesn’t absorb liquids, so it’s less likely to stain. This makes it an ideal choice for kitchens where spills and stains are a daily occurrence. In conclusion, solid quartz worktops are an excellent choice for any kitchen which is why Jones Homes have chosen them as part of our range of options. They’re durable, low-maintenance, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing, making them a great investment for homeowners who want a worktop that will last for years to come. Please note: Buyers of all Jones homes that include quartz worktops will also receive a quartz care kit. To ensure the worktops retain their natural beauty for many years to come, please refer to the care instructions provided.

Old or new? The benefits of buying a new-build home.
When it comes to buying a home, one of the big decisions that buyers have to make is the choice of whether to buy an older home or a new build home. While older homes may have their charms, the benefits of buying a new build home can make them a great choice for many would-be homeowners. Here are some of the benefits of a new build home over an older home. Energy Efficiency New build homes are designed to be more energy-efficient than older homes. They often incorporate features such as better insulation, high-performance windows, and energy-efficient appliances and lighting. This can result in lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint. Lower Maintenance Older homes often require a lot of maintenance and repairs, such as fixing leaky roofs or replacing outdated plumbing and electrical systems. New build homes, on the other hand, use modern materials with new plumbing and electrical systems built-in requiring little maintenance in the first years of ownership. This can save homeowners time, money, and stress. Modern Design and Features New build homes often feature modern designs and features, such as open floor plans, French or Bi-fold doors to the rear garden, smart home technology, and modern appliances. These features can make daily living more convenient and enjoyable, and can also increase the desirability and resale value of the home. Warranty Protection New build homes generally come with a warranty that covers defects in construction and materials for a certain period of time. This can provide peace of mind for buyers, knowing that they are protected against any unexpected issues that may arise. For example, all Jones homes come with a 2 year Jones Homes warranty and a 10 year NHBC warranty. Personalisation Options New build homes often offer buyers the opportunity to personalise their home by choosing finishes and features that suit their individual tastes and needs. This includes tiling, flooring and kitchen choices ready for buyers to apply their own interior design ideas. This can result in a home that is brand new yet reflects the buyer’s personality and style. While older homes may have their charm and history, the benefits of buying a new build home are clear. From energy efficiency and low maintenance to modern design and personalisation options, new build homes offer a fresh start and a range of advantages that can make home ownership a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Buzzing with Life: How to Create a Bee-Friendly Garden
Bees are the busy behind-the-scenes heroes of our gardens and ecosystems. These fuzzy flyers act as pollinators, carrying pollen from flower to flower, which is essential for plant reproduction. Without bees, many of the plants we rely on for food, from fruits and vegetables to nuts and seeds, wouldn’t be able to reproduce. This decline would have a domino effect, impacting wildlife that depends on these plants for food and shelter. Sadly, bee populations around the world are threatened by habitat loss, pesticide use, and disease. This article is packed with easy-to-follow tips on how to create a bee-friendly garden to transform your garden into a bee bonanza: With World Bee Day just around the corner (20th May 2024), there’s no better time to consider creating a welcoming haven for these fuzzy friends in your own garden! One of the simplest ways to attract bees to visit your garden is by growing flowers rich in pollen and nectar – perennial plants, plants that re-grow each year, are great, but don’t discount flowering annuals, shrubs and trees, too. Plants that attract bees to your garden How to create a bee-friendly garden : A Bee-Feast Throughout the Seasons Bee Buffet: Bees crave a diverse floral menu. Plant a variety of bee-friendly flowers throughout the season, from spring bulbs like crocuses to summer favourites like sunflowers and asters. Don’t forget about autumn blooms like sedum and dahlias! Single over Double: Opt for single flowers over densely packed double blooms. Single blooms offer bees easier access to the nectar and pollen they need. Colourful Bounty: Bees love blue, purple, and yellow flowers. Consider borage, lavender, catmint, poppies, and herbs like rosemary and thyme. Let it Bloom: Relax your mowing routine! Allow some “weeds” like dandelions and clover to bloom – they’re a bee smorgasbord! Beyond Blooms: Bee-lated Homes: Provide nesting sites for solitary bees by creating a bee hotel. Pack hollow stems or drill holes in untreated wood blocks for them to lay their eggs. Water Works: Bees get thirsty too! Place a shallow dish filled with clean water and pebbles, allowing bees to rest and drink safely. Natural Neighbours: Avoid using pesticides and herbicides in your garden. These chemicals harm bees and other beneficial insects. Lending a Helping Hand: What to Do if You Find a Tired Bee Even in a bee-friendly haven, you might occasionally encounter a tired bee. Here’s how you can lend a helping hand: Leave it Be (Sometimes): If you spot a bee resting on a flower or a sunny spot, it might just be taking a quick break. Leave it be and allow it to recharge on its own. The Sugar Rush: If the bee looks particularly sluggish or isn’t on a flower, you can create a simple sugar water solution. Mix one tablespoon of white sugar with two tablespoons of warm water. Place a few drops on a shallow dish or spoon with a rough surface, like a leaf. This will allow the bee to drink safely without drowning. A Gentle Lift: If the bee is on the ground and unlikely to reach the sugar water, carefully move it to a nearby flower or the dish with a twig or leaf. Avoid grabbing the bee directly with your fingers, which could damage its wings. Remember: Bees are important pollinators, but they can also sting. If you’re uncomfortable helping a bee or are allergic, simply leave it alone and it will likely revive on its own. Bonus Tip: Let your neighbours know! By working together to create a bee-friendly garden neighbourhood, you can create a much larger network for these vital pollinators. With a little planning and these simple steps, you can create a beautiful garden that buzzes with life and supports our bee populations. Remember, every bee counts! What to look for during a show home visit
When you’re in the market for a new home, visiting show homes can be an exciting and informative experience. Show homes are fully furnished and decorated model homes that builders use to showcase their properties under construction to potential buyers. Even if you’re not immediately thinking of buying a show home, when you’re viewing one it’s important to know what to look for to ensure you’re getting the most out of your visit. Show homes can help you visualise what living in a new home would be like, even if the home you buy is not the exact same style as the show home on a particular development. In this article, we’ll explore some of the key factors you should consider when visiting a show home. Size and Space: The size and space of the home should be a primary consideration when visiting a show home. Ensure that the home’s square footage meets your needs, and that the space is used efficiently. Take a mental note of features like ceiling heights, windows size, and open floor plans that can make the space feel more expansive. Location and Orientation: The location and orientation of the home are also essential factors to consider when visiting a show home. Consider whether the home is facing north or south, as this can affect the amount of natural light and warmth the home receives. Additionally, think about the home’s location within the surrounding community, and if it is close to amenities like schools, parks, and shopping. Storage and Functionality: One of the most important factors in a home is storage space. Take note of the amount of storage in the show home. Check if features like fitted wardrobes on display are included or where freestanding wardrobes might best be located. Is there further storage space in the house? Are kitchens and bathrooms well-designed? Consider how you would use the space, and whether it can meet your needs for storage and organisation. Layout and Flow: When you enter a show home, pay attention to the layout and flow of the space. Is the floor plan open or closed off? Does the home have a natural flow from room to room? Consider how you and your family would use the space and whether the layout would work for your lifestyle. A family with young children may look for an open-concept floor plan with ample space for entertaining and socialising. Conversely, a retiree or empty-nester may look for a more compact, low-maintenance design. Quality of finishes and fixtures: The quality of finishes and fixtures can make a huge difference in the overall look and feel of a home. Take a close look at the flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and other finishes such as taps, lighting, and door handles. Are they good-quality materials? These details may seem small, but they can make a big impact on the overall look and feel of your home. Show homes usually showcase the best that is on offer, so don’t be afraid to ask what finishes are included as standard and what might be available as an upgrade. Lighting: Lighting is an essential element of any home, and it’s crucial to consider how natural and artificial light will affect the space. Take note of the placement and number of windows, as well as the orientation of the home in relation to the sun. Consider whether the lighting in the home is adequate for your needs and whether you can easily modify it if necessary. Energy efficiency: An energy efficient home is becoming increasingly important for many homebuyers. When you’re thinking about buying a show home, ask about the energy efficiency features such as insulation, windows, and appliances. These features can help you save money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. Overall, visiting a show home can be a great way to get a feel for a new home and community. By following these tips, you’ll be able to get the most from your visit and make an informed decision about your next home.
